Lucky for the two brothers that a reasonable person, the lawyer, had a come to Jesus meeting with them. CPD had evidence of involvement because they were denying involvement for the majority of time they were held.

Such pain that he kept defiantly proclaiming his innocence and victim status...also such pain that he would let two Nigerians get prosecuted for a crime he orchestrated.

We talk from time to time about the pyramid of victimhood and as a black gay man he was fairly high up, maybe even the Queen's chamber but he wasn't satisfied and wanted the top slot. It's also telling that he thought he could use his victim status even when his story completely fell apart, the public reaction must have puzzled him.

Hopefully he has many years in prison to ponder what all went wrong.

I am really surprised that the old Rick Springfield hit, Jesse's Girl, hasn't been modified to fit the situation.

Was just talking about this with The Hubs. Since Smollett paid them to "attack" him. there's no crime that the brothers committed...up until the time they were stonewalling and lying to the cops for 47 hours. If they had kept at it for another hour and then been released, they would have been charged.

Meanwhile, as you point out, their lawyer is talking to the detectives about the mountain of evidence they have to prove the brothers were involved. She then goes to see her clients and says something along the lines of, "How do you say you're both f***ed in Nigerian? You have one hour to get yourselves out of this, start talking fast."

I posted the tweet, he obviously did get a nice bump in pay from $20K to $65K, I've not watched one second of the show but figured he was a supporting player since obviously Terrence and Taraji are the stars. I think somebody said they've done 4 seasons...so ball park I bet he's earned $2.5MM, poor thing.
