I don't believe in an open democratic society. That sounds like a dystopian hell. I much prefer a representative republic and wish more of our citizens understood what that is.

IMO the ad is pretty bad. The reactions are off key to me, but the ad is still pretty bad.

If I was an R media consultant I wouldn't care how the crazed left reacts. I'd wonder how mushy swing state voters would react. Although to be fair, I'm not sure who the target audience is here. It might be effective as an ad aimed at R donors for primary candidates challenging RINOs.

Reverse that and ask yourself if Democrats use focus groups and ask, "If I were an ardent conservative, what would I find offensive about this ad?" The Democrats have used advertisements that offend the most basic human decency to appeal to their base and it never seems to be a concern that they will alienate swing voters. Indeed, they win a lot of elections on morally offensive policy platforms.

That ad is provocative because it extrapolates where the path of socialism inevitably leads but it is not untruthful. I have no objection to it under the premise offered by Jordan Peterson that the best course of action is to always speak the truth regardless of consequences and trust that whatever happens is the best possible outcome because speaking untruth is merely expediency.

It left an avenue open where she could dismiss the substantive part of the ad because RACISM!

I've noticed that businesses that would never be traditionally tipped for their services are now asking for them through new touch screen pay systems. My most recent example is Salata. There is no waitstaff involved yet now they ask if I would like to tip when completing the transaction. I usually tap the minimum amount because I can feel the employee staring at me. What's next? Tipping at McDonald's and Burger King?

I don't tip at counter service restaurants or coffee places. And yes, I stare down the person watching me sign. Sorry, tips are for waiters who make 2.13 an hour and depend on tips.

My first rule is if you don't provide some sort of actual service, no tip. Then do you did you provide excellent service? Oh wait you asked for a tip before I got the service? No tip.

I end up still tipping the same service people and not the ones who have all added tipping options to their bill. On a side note if I order food from a typical sit-down restaurant I usually tip something because in my mind they are correctly packaging my food in a timely manner. Do I leave 18%? No, but 10%? Likely if they are doing a superb job at getting my order together.

Also all the helpful tip calculators are ignored. Some start at 18% and some of the time the % is calculated "incorrectly."
