The employment taxes+income taxes (especially with new exemption or lack of exemptions allowed)+potential property taxes I assume far outweighs the 2.5 billion in tax breaks that Amazon gets. This isn't even including the amount of money that would be poured into the surrounding areas.

She called it like I see it in her last statement. Hard to see how she could have an economics degree and not understand the type of economic windfall it would have for the area.

AOC's lack of "intelligence" really does not bother me. I know many people her age who are clueless when it comes to economics, history and politics in general. What bothers me is that she has a staff, THAT WE PAY FOR (at least those of us that pay taxes) that should be vetting her outrageous comments. Where are these people and tell me why they are on the government's dime, if they are so bad at their jobs?

Wait, she's trying to imply that people, only categorizing by skin color and nothing more, who have been punished for breaking the law are the only people, by skin color, who should benefit by legalization AND in an equal percentage ownership/executive level jobs as to those who were incarcerated? Where, how, why does that ever even begin to make sense or have any sound logic? What justifies an earned or government necessity to have an equal percentage of incarcerated by race to equal percentage by race company ownership?!

She does have a point about Amazon contributioning to higher rents pricing a few locals out of the area. But any local job or population growth will have the same effect.

The Electoral college is not what makes this a republic.

What makes us a republic is the protections and limits on the powers of the simple majority put in place by the constitution and it's amendments.

We are a democratic republic. what that means is that we decide things at a national level by the majority except those things that are protected by the constitution. Electoral college has NOTHING to do with being a republic.

The electoral college was put into place because the founding fathers feared that the general populace would be easily swayed by a media campaign / snake oil salesman and in order to combat this the general populace would select electors who would use their more advanced brains to determine the best course for the election. The founding fathers never intended it to be how it is in the current state with winner take all state elections or requirements for the electors to vote exactly per the popular vote in their state. They also didn't regulate how the states would function as they thought each state should have it's own say in how in ran things. With winner take all and elector requirements to vote per popular vote the founding fathers original reasoning for the electoral college is no longer valid. Does this mean the electoral college is junk and should be done away with? I don't know, but it does need to be looked at and fixed so it isn't a sham of the original intent.
