Every time I see her picture it reminds me of a woman (they really do look alike and have the same horse face) I used to work with that thought I was absolutely stupid till I had to help her on some project she had no clue about. A lot of it was information gathering to produce averages and other calculations.
The problem was the information we wanted was mixed in with a bunch of other crap so we had to use a criteria to separate out the crap and get down to what we needed. They only looked at the information every 2-3 years and it would be cost prohibitive to record it separately, so much cheaper to have an employee spend a few weeks massaging data every 2 years versus spending millions.
I had been doing this for 7 years with advice and help from my management and a little outside help. Well we got new management and they decided she needed to gather the data because she was a data whiz. So I said fine whatever she can have at dissecting the data because it was a pain in the ass.
So she gathered the data, confused everyone she requested the data from and inflated the numbers from the prior report by about 300%. Management realized something was wrong because the most it had ever varied before was about 20% either way.
So I had to completely redo everything and talk to everyone on the data collection side to get the correct information. They all asked me why I wasn't in charge in the first place and I responded management thought she would be better.
She was a pain in my rear who I avoided after that till she got laid off the next year.
