The best thing I have heard about the whole Safeway thing is that she originally said mid 80's then after Judge book said he worked at Safeway in 82 it became 82. Since when is 82 mid 80's?

I am not a psychologist but I really think that her abuse was long term, like a family member or close adult or family friend. Her story and claimed symptoms don't line up with a one time non-rape grope when she was 15.

They just don't line up. Not in my experiences with victims of tragic moments in their lives.
Completely agree. Hell, in 1988 when I was a Marine on liberty in Singapore, just walking down the street, a transvestite grabbed my crotch and said "Hey handsome". My buddies laughed hysterically and made fun of me all night. So there you have it: sexual assault AND laughter at my expense from decades ago. Where's my FBI investigation?

Actually, I think the book said that he "worked at a local grocery store" and didn't mention Safeway specifically.

Same issue with her original statements that alleged incident occurred in her late teens and then she changes it to 15. That's not anyone's definition of late teens.

As Mitchell pointed out, repressed memory does occur but here she's changing stories and timelines without any explanation. The obvious conclusion is that she's being persuaded/influences to do so because '82 works better to accuse Kav. He's less likely to be able to disprove when in high school and more likely to have been in same proximity as her.

Well, ONE of them IS going to be a SC Justice, after all! The other, but an asterisk in the dustbin of history.

...That is now old news. In the last 48 hours, immediately after Senate Republicans and President Trump agreed to Democratic demands that the FBI investigate the 1982 incident, the Kavanaugh goalposts have moved dramatically. Now, a key issue is Kavanaugh's teenage drinking, and whether he testified truthfully to Congress about the amount of beer he consumed in high school and college more than three decades ago, and the effect it had on him.

Just look at the headlines:

Yale Classmate Accuses Kavanaugh of 'Blatant Mischaracterization' of His Drinking." (New York Times)
"Another Yale classmate breaks silence: Kavanaugh lied." (CNN)
"Brett Kavanaugh's College Friends Say He Lied Under Oath About Drinking." (NBC)

And many others. The allegation is that at last Thursday's hearing, Kavanaugh lied to the Senate Judiciary Committee when he was asked about his drinking practices both in high school and at Yale University. Kavanaugh was under oath at the time....

Same rules apply. Prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he drank heavier than he testified to.

Again, provide physical, actionable evidence beyond shaky 30+ year old testimony.

Think about this. If you had a friend from college going through this process, would you speak out about it if he downplayed his drinking? I really question the "friend" part of this.

They're moving onto things that are completely subjective and really can't be proven. He never said he didn't drink. Whether or not he's been "blackout drunk" cannot be proven. I've been pretty gone a few times in my life and can remember the night. The only time I don't remember the night is when I sprained my ankle earlier that day and one of the girls in our group gave me something and said "these will help." I woke up the next morning on the hotel floor in my underwear spooning a golf bag. No hangover and ankle was fine, and I don't remember much after leaving the bar...I do remember stopping and getting more beer for the hotel (this was in LA).

Right. Blackout drunk would be almost impossible to prove. Many simply don't have that switch, which I know I don't. And trust me, I've tested whether i have many times. I can get drunk, stumble around, may say stupid ****, and then eventually go to sleep. But I'm conscious of it all and remember it all the next day.

I've read somewhere that only 40% of the population is susceptible to black-outs caused by drinking. It's a trait that can be a flag that someone that has the "alcoholism gene", although not a perfect one.

What a "reach"! He admitted he drank beer in HS. He admitted he liked beer. He admitted he sometimes drank "too much". He refused to admit that he was a drunk/lush, despite the concerted efforts of Spartacus and others to get him to do so.

This is despicable behavior by Democrats in their transparent attempts to scuttle this nomination "by hook or crook"!

That he "never blacked out" from drinking too much.

They are claiming that excessive drinking is the equivalent of blackout out from alcohol. You've already seen two posters here (Lot Y and MacArthur) go with this angle last week.

Basically, Kav admitted to getting drunk and drinking a lot of beer in high a school and college. He said he never blacked out from drinking. Liberals want to claim he lied about saying he never drink in excess, a claim Kav never made.

It's not even that. Their argument is literally "he drink a lot so at some point he must have blacked out even though we can't say for sure he did".

How do you know if someone blacked out vs drunk?

I've never "blacked out" from drinking beer, but I've certainly been drunk off my arse from drinking beer

Now tequila is another story

Well, that's exactly why us sane minded people are rolling our eyes and laughing at this new tactic. But, the rest of America appears to have bought into it....

The only question that matters is whether Flake, Murkowski, or Collins buy into it. Those are literally the only three Americans that matter in any of this. Flake is all over the place on the issue so trying to pin him down is an exercise in futility. I'm sitting by to see if Collins and Murkowski start dropping any hints in the next few days that might give a clue as to how they are leaning.

Depends on the poll.

The Hill published one that showed almost everyone against Kavanaugh.

However, once the same people were told the facts such as all of Ford's "witnesses" refuted her claims, then Kavanaugh's support went to 57% and to 60% if the FBI investigation finds nothing new.

Democrats who were polled didn't care one way or the other. They opposed him regardless.

Two other things and this goes back to Senator Whitehouse (Rhode Island a/k/a 'Farticus") pin-pointing July 1, 1982 from Kav's calendars.

Kav's calendar reveals he was at football practice from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. So he wasn't drinking brewskis during that time.

Ford testified that she still had her bathing suit on under her clothes. So she had not gone home to change before the encounter. Although she cannot specify whether she or Judge/Kav got there first, she did say they were both inebriated and had been drinking prior. She also said she thought the small gathering was a "pre-party" before a much later party that night that she couldn't attend because she had a curfew. (That last part is likely from her statement to Feinstein perhaps, but anyway it is part of the record.)

First question: what was her curfew? Second question: Did she have any memory of getting into trouble for breaking curfew? See where I am going here? She hadn't been home yet since she had her bathing suit on.

On nights that Kav had practice he wouldn't have been present until after 8:00 PM. This wasn't in the era of cell-phones and texts. She would have had to let her parents know where she was if she missed dinner. And where she had been if she broke curfew. She's still afraid of her parents today at age 51 no reason to think she wouldn't have equally been afraid of breaking curfew when she was 15.

So how late at night did this alleged encounter occur? At 15, would she be concerned about walking home alone after 10:00PM? 11:00PM? Midnight?
