So, essentially, due process and fairness is less important to him than apparent misogyny.

I would rank them differently, but that's just me.

Logic would lead you to believe Whelan received information from someone that Dr. Ford mentioned was at the party.
Or he was guessing and completely blew it, which is why everything got deleted.

With all do respect, why would anyone believe that something happened to Dr Ford?
For most, they "believe it" because they want to stop Trump and Kavanaugh, nothing more. If they were actually honest, most would call it BS.

Then there are those who believe "a woman never lies about rape" which of course everyone knows is complete BS as well.
Especially when copping a feel ISN'T RAPE!
Using "do respect" instead of "due respect" rapes my ears, however.

There supposedly had been rumors floating around DC since July about this. DiFi has shown the unredacted letter to staff and a few other Dem Senators and their staffs. He might have gotten the name from one of them.

My best guess.
Apparently Whelan has retracted his tweet:

Trump breaks his silence.

He was so close to not ****ing this up.
Nothing he said was out of line. People are afraid to state the obvious. Nothing happened (even if it was actually tried). It was not bad enough that she reported it to authorities. Kavanaugh has made his way up the ranks as a circuit court judge, yet it wasn't bad enough for her to bring it up then...only now that he is a SCOTUS candidate.

People are too afraid to call out the obvious BS in this whole story.

Well, that's enough. Time to figure out who I will support in 2020. I know there are plenty of men are thinking the same thing, but there was no need to vilify Ford here. I believe something substantial and traumatic happened to her around the stated time frame (whether the reported event or something else) and it's tyrannical to use the bully pulpit in an attack like Trump's.
So BEFORE this all started with Kavanaugh/Ford, you will supporting Trump? Correct?

Before Trump's unnecessary bullying tweet, I was planning to vote for him in 2020.
So, that's a no. You're going to let him calling for facts to be presented be the reason not to vote for him and ignore the thriving economy and low unemployment? #itsallaboutmyfeelz

No, I'm going to let the fact that he's using the failure to file a police report as conslusive evidence no assault or abuse occurred affect my decision.

If you actually care, look at my posts on Title IX investigations. Due process and fairness are important, but Trump's tweet this morning struck me as unnecessarily mean spirited. Add that to his apparent mysoginy and I'm not sure he's trustworthy in a second term where even public opinion (the vote) becomes irrelevant to him.
He's asking for the facts to be presented, which is something her and her attorney seem to be not wanting to do. Why do you think that is? Why do you think they've made a list of absurd demands for her to testify? We're going on almost a week of this and we know as much now as we did when it started...it happened a long time ago and she's fuzzy on the details. Do you know who you should really feel bad for? Real victims of sexual abuse. This is an obvious political witch hunt and it does nothing to help those who have been abused. But the libs have a history of this type of crap...just google the Columbia mattress girl, the Amherst case, etc. Use sexual assault/rape to ruin lives when they don't get their way.

His apparent mysoginy? You were OK with it enough before this tweet to think about voting for him, but this is the line in the sand to you? Give me a break. Trump has a ton of faults, but the one thing that we can all agree upon is that he believes in equal opportunity when making remarks about somebody. He doesn't care if they're liberal or conservative, male or female, white or black or Asian or whatever. He says what people are afraid of saying and it's a breath of fresh air for the American people who see what's acceptable get smaller and smaller everyday.

As I've made clear on other threads, I didn't really vote FOR Trump, but rather voted against Hillary. I've always been a little uncomfortable with his life style and I've believed he is a narcissist.

On Ford, I agree with you guys that the story being woven is not credible and the process that the Dems are trying to foist on the Senate is a joke at best.

Trump's tweet repeats the victim shaming of our past...because you did not scream about it then, be a good girl and sit quietly now.

The other thing is that Trump's tweet isn't just about her, it's about any woman who believed they were abused/assaulted but didn't report. Regardless of the facts behind their trauma, they're almost certainly struggling with shame. Tweets like the president sent this morning amplify that shame, not just for Ford, but for every single woman who believes what Ford described happened to her. If he doesn't have either 1) enough empathy to draft a non-shaming tweet on this issue or 2) the wisdom to get help from someone who does, that's another strike against him in my book.

Offering Wednesday is a shrewd move.

Her lawyers will now say they need until Oct 1st, and republicans will then have cover to blow her off.
PanzerAggie06

Grassley continues to play this about as well as it can be. Pushed the testimony 48 hours and told her to get bent on the rest of her demands. The Republicans can state they are working with the accuser in order to hear her testimony without completely caving into her silly demands. All he is trying to do is give cover to Murkowski and Collins. This can do that.

Her intentions won't matter if the republicans keep calling her bluff. The democrats will be forced to get her to testify by any means necessary.

I totally agree. Not going to be shocked in the slightest if she refuses to testify. Which is an even better scenario for the Republicans. No chance of a "gotcha" moment in the testimony where Kavanaugh says something incredibly stupid, not that thats likely. And the Republicans can state they gave her ample opportunity to testify and she refused to be heard. Collins and Murkowski have all the cover they need and the vote is a go.

No, the Dems will play the victim card "on her behalf" and claim the R's weren't sufficiently accommodating to her traumatized state. The Rs have been under the circumstances, but the Dems don't care.

That's correct. If she doesn't testify then it's over. They vote to confirm. End of story.

She still would have done it on Monday too if that was their only option.

I'm not even sure the Dems want her to testify. You have Kavanaugh who is a polished, eloquent, brilliant legal mind on one side and a complete unknown in the other side. This could blow up epically in their faces. Their entire goal here is to delay until after the midterms so they can either block Kavanaugh or whomever Trump appoints. It's that simple.

I don't understand Ed Whelan's excuse. He didn't post "in a way that identified a classmate", as if he accidently alluded to someone.

He posted the guy's name, old and recent pictures, a floor plan of the dude's parent's HOUSE and much more. It was an entire expose of the guy explaining how he probably assaulted Ford instead of Kavanaugh. He put the Outdoors Board to shame!

How could he think that is ok?
