Which brings me to my reason for posting:

It's a undeniable fact that for at least the last 50 years, Democrats have practiced "the ends justify the means" in their every political activity. Chief among the leadership in this culture changing effort has been Hillary and Bill Clinton, Bill Ayers, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy,and the list goes on.

So noble is the cause for which they battle (Progressive-ism, Socialism, etc) that literally anything they do, in the name their cause is perfectly justified. That is their "Religion", and their sincere (if deluded) belief!

Cancel the Monday hearing and schedule the vote instead. SCOTUS session opens the first Monday in October. Now the first week or so is normally just housekeeping matters and scheduling for the remainder of the session and Kavanaugh not being confirmed by then wouldn't be a disaster but getting him confirmed (or not) before then would be better. Have the vote and let they chips fall where they may.

Either way, the tactics of the Dems here will be great fodder for Trump to hammer during the midterms.

I think you're right on Flake -- he probably got an earful from his constituents. Also likely that he was on the receiving end of a reading of the riot act from local Republican bar associations.

But yeah, my gut says that Fenstein blocking the subpoena and Ford ignoring the invite means she's a terrible witness. It's a really weak look for Fenstein otherwise. It makes sense that she'd be a bad witness. She's an academic from a soft field with a whole lot of skeletons that she tried to sweep out of the closet.

And I think it means that after the fact, this tactic is not polling well with anyone outside of the true believer/SJW wing of the left.

And I don't just mean poorly. I mean every time they started a practice session, it ended prematurely with Ford doing one of the following:

• Sobbing (not just getting watery/teary eyes. That can make a witness look sympathetic);
• Foaming with rage;
• Frequently swearing at person asking questions;
• Some combination of all of the above.

But the short story is that even under simulated cross examination, she cracked like a butt.

The only other explanation is that the truth might not align with what she alleged.

Feinstein and Flake are convinced she won't. And her attorney was all over cable news yesterday but now is radio silent? No.

Whatever plan the Dems had was not going to work convincingly with her as the prime witness. And that would have severe backsplash on Feinstein and other Senate Dems if they trotted her out and she crashed and burned under questioning.

Makes you wonder if the rumor of a similar Gorsuch letter is real.
