That's a ridiculous assertion!!!! This happened in '82 and Foot Loose was released in '84...nice try!!!

Yup, released in the spring semester of my senior year in high school. I was class of 84.

Oddly enough about three weeks ago that movie was on one night and I watched the whole thing again, had not seen it probably in 30 years and oh my God is it an 80s movie for sure. I remember having that soundtrack on cassette tape and still knew all the songs. Man the 80s were fun, and cheesy.

I hope Kavanaugh channels his inner Scalia and goes scored earth on these crazy people.

So Is this the end for Kavanaugh, especially if some girl from high school comes forward?

If Kavanaugh is a great judge, this will not impact him on the bench. I trust that it will not.

As of right now, no.

And it's likely this person, if she even exists, won't show her face.

I think the letter is from Harry Reid. And rhe accused is Reid's brother. This is all one big anonymous mixup.

I do not care if he hit on a girl in high school.

Funny how Feinstein received the letter in the Summer and is just now pursuing it...

That's bc an alleged rape is only important when it gets you in the spotlight or is a delay tactic. #metoo

I think we could use a whole lot more "cheesy" right now. Life was much more relaxed and less stressful back when we had some "cheesy" in our life to laugh at and have fun with. Seems everything now is way too damned serious.

Life should always have "fun" moments - and the more the better!

Still surprising to me that very little media is covering this.

Life is only fun, relaxed, and cheesy if you aren't living under the oppressive weight of the straight white patriarchy

I think even most of them see this for what it is. I read today that some of Diane Feinsteins democrat colleagues in the senate are irritated that she held onto it since it July.

Yep.. IF she thought it was a big deal, why didn't she release it in July?

If an average citizen gave such info to the FBI or the police on a senator would they be charged for making false allegations and making **** up?

How does it work when an average citizen gives an anonymous letter to the police accusing the mayor of some crime?

If Feinstein and friends can't ID the accuser then they should be charged with fraudulent crime reporting, like an average citizen would be.

These anonymous accusations are total bull*****

Why didn't Feinstein ask these questions while he was UNDER OATH last week?

It seems like they need to update their playbook for these so that step one is a question under oath in the hearing and later the accusation.
Good question. She has had the info all summer

And if we had a media worth a rat's ass, politicians pulling these stunts would be slaughtered for this nonsense.

A group of 65 women have come to the defense of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who is facing an allegation of sexual misconduct from the early 1980s in the lead-up to his confirmation vote.

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday released a letter from the women, who said they have known Kavanaugh for more than 35 years, including during his years at Georgetown Preparatory School, an all-boys school in North Bethesda, Md.

I'll tell you why. Because the Anita Hill approach backfired. I watched those hearings for Justice Thomas. Having her there testifying, although dramatic, didn't move the needle. As a woman in the legal biz back then, it was like, "You couldn't handle that piddly ass crap? Really?" Harassment meant something altogether different back then.

It isn't hard to see the strategy from afar,

We must DELAY while we investigate these serious allegations.

The playbook is easy to read when you have seen it before.

I agree and the 80s were fun. I went from 14 to 24 during them, fun times. And yes, too much of everything these days, especially politics in every damn aspect of life and people constantly offended by everything.

Is this like the "woman" who was about to hold a press conference about Trump, the media was all around the table loaded with mics, and nobody ever showed up?

I doubt this is even a real person. The people who are spreading this lie, including the Senator, should face jail time.

I was talking with my husband yesterday about how, as a woman, this kind of crap really pissed me off.

People like to say that women are afraid to report rape...if it happened why?? Say something!!!

If women are so strong and hard core and can be warriors or President, why the shrinking violet behavior?

It used to be that if someone came at you with unwanted advances, for example at a party, you ran and told someone who told their older brother and the guy would get beat up and /or become a social outcast for being a slimeball. Social justice would prevail and he would never get a date again.

Now all of a sudden we have women so "affected" by some grabass that they need counseling and 35 years to come forward. F every #metoo woman, I disown you for not reporting these crimes when and if they actually happened and only when socially or politically advantageous. DISOWN! No pity.

Because for many, being raped is something to be ashamed of because you think at the time it is your fault. You did something to make that person rape you and you don't want people to know.

That is why you don't report it.

See, I hear what you are saying, and i sympathize with women who were not instilled with a self-worth in their upbringing that made them come to that conclusion...but I was a kid in the 80s and they told us then 35 years ago that rape is not your fault and always tell. I have a book that I kept for my daughter about how to tell an adult about unwanted touching copyrighted in 1980s. This is not a new conversation.

The lack of feelings of self worth should not be a barrier to the pursuit of justice for a crime. I am sorry, but not sympathetic because by not reporting you let a rapist go free to rape again.

In the case of #metoo where we are lumping groping, power plays, and other nonrape sexual offense, I am even less sympathetic. Truth is no woman had the balls to change jobs or report abuse. Woman was restrained and got away, and waited til June 2018 to tell, give me a break.

Ok. So you instead anonymously leak it to a Senator decades later. Who then sits on that letter for months. And then she doesn't even ask about it during her time to question Kavanaugh.

That doesn't sound the slightest bit strange to you?
