The need for this arrow is silly. The gas cap should always be on the diver's side. Everyone pulls to the right side of the pump, as God intended, and leaves in an orderly manner.

The gas cap on the left makes no sense.

Having some models on the left and some on the right is just intended to cause chaos at the gas station.

I've had my current SUV since 2016. Before that I had a 1998, 2007 SUVs. Those two had the gas on the driver side and this one has it on the passenger side. Honestly can't remember before that but I think all my other cars had it on the driver side as well. But it took me a while to keep remembering it was on the passenger side when I first got it. I'll pull in and start to get out and be like oh damn, but I never tried to do what she did. Or pull it over the car.

And then there was the '55 Chevy Bel Aire that stuck the gas cap behind the taillight. I think there were Cadillacs that did this too.

I had an 1962 MGA Mk2 II I painted white and installed red seat covers. I was a senior in high school and paid $400 from funds working as a gas station attendant ($0.95/hr) and bus boy @ Bonanza Steak House($0.75/hr).


ETA: the above is not my car, just looks damn close to it. The convertible top was trashed so I only used the tonneau. Oh, and damn I miss that car.

My dad also had a 1961 Midget when we lived in England in the mid 70s. So fun to ride in.

I actually learned to drive a stick shift in that 1972 Midget I mentioned earlier - it was also my dad's...

I found the love of manuals so strong that I still drive one and have for most of the time I've owned vehicles. Do you know how ****ing hard it is to find a MANUAL Jeep Wrangler? Let alone a 2 Dr? I've have to buy my last 2 from Louisiana because that was the closest one...

Warning signs on I-35 in San Antonio? Nobody slows down, and when you are standing in the traffic lane a little reflector is like waving a cape in front of a charging bull with all the drunks coming at you! The gas cap is much safer on the passenger side.

WOW! Okay. Have never run out of gas in my life, but always had an emergency kit in my trunk. Had a flat tire once, during college. On the by-pass road around Taylor. Had the jack out and jacking up the car when a driver stopped (an Ag of course) and finished the job for me.

Yep, guess those of us that have been around awhile used to just have to know our cars. Hard part is when you travel and rent a lot, and we get used to using the little arrow.

Here is the photo from my grandpa's '56 Mercury:



And my Dad's '61 Beetle. Originally it did not have a gauge, but instead there was a fuel measuring stick you use to check the tank directly. Dad upgraded and added the gauge once the '62 model came out:



Guess we'll start calling these pre-arrow cars...
