Does this mean Barr can be appointed special counsel to investigate something else?

I just hope he has properly set up the dominoes for after he leaves.nortex97 said:
Barr is retiring from government life. His frustration with how he was treated by the Dems is probably the main factor. He just wants out of DC.
Good for him; the problem in DC are the people who want to stay there. Ahem, Obama-Biden.
Get ready for the left to weaponize the IRS again now that they are returning to the EEOB and the White House.will25u said:
Don't think many will appreciate this post besides the people here. Doyle and Moynihan look to be in court soon against the IRS/Clinton Foundation.
Wait a minute. You mean Trump has once again let a foot-dragger enter the position of AG?will25u said:
Well, this is depressing.

Have lost any idea that anything at all will come of any of this, or any reason to change an assumption a Democrat is immune from legal risk -- but why doesn't Trump appoint a fire-breather to at least start some special counsels to carry over like Levin suggests?
Or is there possibility given the cordial letter, Barr himself is actually pretending to leave, only to become a Special Counsel with all the goods already?

I thought McCabe left two years ago?
One of Trump's quite real shortcomings, imho, is that he is not a detail oriented manager at all, but rather is almost completely hands off. He hires people, and evaluates their work in broad strokes, but largely seems to fail to ever really dig into how they...are managing people/tasks being done under their purview.PearlJammin said:titan said:Wait a minute. Or it's quite possible, based on all his leadership picks, that Trump is pissing on his supporters legs and telling them it's raining. I voted for him twice, but I'm beginning to think he never wanted justice to prevail in this area. He just wanted to pretend that he was working on it so he could blame someone else when it goes nowhere. Time after time he has done this. Why is Wray still at the FBI?
Quote:
A position within the "SES" is considered the equivalent to general officer or the flag officer ranks in the U.S. Armed Forces.
For that reason, they are often referred to as our "civilian generals."
Their pay scale starts above the top level of civil service (GS-15), with base salaries ranging from a minimum of $127,914 to a maximum of $192,300.1
Ostensibly, the SES was to be a corps of non-partisan, career managers who serve as the executive management of federal agencies
Their job being to implement policy, not create it.
At least it was until then President Barack Obama changed that with a mere flick of his pen
Making SES members nearly impossible to fire, once hired.
To say Obama's transformation of the SES into an army of political operatives was effective would be a gross understatement.
There are more than 2 million federal government employees. And at the top of that pyramid are approximately 8,000 SES (Senior Executive Service) employees who service as the professional managerial class linking our political leaders to the civil service rank and file. And Barack Obama as president, replaced more than 6,000 members of the 8,000-member SES during his two terms, assembling what became a stay-behind army of political operatives
So how pervasive is the SES?
Here's a list of the number of SES employees that were embedded in the following government agencies at the end of Obama's 2nd term in 2016:And it wasn't just a purge of patriots from governmental agencies

At one point, Obama asked whether there was any evidence of collaboration between the Trump campaign and Russia, but any response that may have been recorded in Brennan's notes is redacted.
