I hope Burr gets primaried.
Burr is probably getting convicted for insider trading.

IMO, Rubio is not far behind Romney & Burr.
For you and nortex, my view of Rubio is similar, but it wasn't always so.

He seems to have chosen his Hill friends poorly. I never hated McCain (politically, yes), but he sure seems to have groomed Rubio, but Rubio made his choice.

It's always difficult to admire a man (McCain) who chose Warren Beatty to be a pallbearer at his funeral.

Rubio was targeted. As soon as he joined the gang of eight, he was compromised. He made his choice. He chose long term wealth and power for himself and his family and less freedom for his constituents.

Aggiehawg- what do you believe the sentence will be for this officer of the court? Will the election have any impact on sentencing? Thanks for your insights.

Judge will give him 9 months because he should have realized his edit was false when he made/submitted it. Then, a week later Sullivan will finally sentence Flynn to a year in prison, and the left will say 'Well, that's fair because KC."

Never mind that Flynn didn't lie to the FBI and the interviewing agents (who are liars themselves; Priestap/Sztrok) also didn't think he lied. The goal remains to push everything past Nov 3rd (Or whenever the litigation about vote counts is over), as the judge here has done/helped.

For a 0-6 month sentence, KC better have given Durham every single name, date, blood type of each person involved in the travesty of justice they committed.

First, I don't actually believe at the moment that Clinsesmith will be sentenced in December. It will likely be continued as Clinesmith's cooperation will not be completed yet. (Flynn's sentencing was extended for two years for instance.)

There are a couple of issues swirling around this case. Clinesmith defrauded or caused a SSA of the FBI to defraud a FISA court. Judge Boasberg is currently the Chief Judge of the FISA courts and has been directed to clean up the messes from when Judge Collyer was the Chief Judge. That could be a conflict of interest causing him to recuse himself, or either party could ask him to recuse himself. That subject was broached at the hearing today and both parties declined to demand his recusal. So that issue is now moot.

BUT, Judge Boasberg directly commented that even if DOJ recommends a light sentence of 0-6 months in jail, he has the authority to go beyond that, meaning up to five years under the statute. However, assuming the plea agreement has a duty to cooperate, DOJ may not be happy with Clinesmith's cooperation and recommend more time. So this is really still up in the air.

As a general rule, federal judges don't much like attorneys defrauding their courts and making a mockery of justice. The ex parte nature of FISA proceedings heightens the duty of the government lawyers being scrupulously honest. And that was the majority of Clinesmith's actual job. The argument can be made that the judge would be more inclined to hammer him with somewhere over a year but less than five years just to send a powerful message for the future.

Spitballing here because there are a lot of balls in the air but my gut tells he'll eventually get 6-18 months in prison, five years probation. Now if Clinesmith is instrumental in bagging some big name, the reward for that might be a vastly reduced sentence as sending a message to others to cooperate with Durham/Barr going forward.

If Trump loses, Clinesmith likely skates, though.

The judge offered to recuse himself, and while doing so noted the damage to the FISC court he oversees by KC's actions; both parties declined recusal. The DoJ and judge let the slippery language of "I believed the insertion I made was true at the time" which is utter/patented BS as it was completely false.

I have no confidence at all in Boasberg or DoJ to get anything out of KC or sentence him. He'll be a practicing attorney again in a year.

Here's to hoping the leniency and generosity being shown to him is very well warranted.

I think many of these people believe their own sanctimonious narratives because they pretty much have to. The have to rationalize themselves as thr good guys just doing what had to be done. If they can distort a few of the facts, why not chose to distort reality and dismiss inconveniences of reality, and continue on with the self serving delusion?

The first thing i thought of regarding the Clinesmith sentencing was what Berman did to Roger Stone. Like many here, I think Stone is a political goofball, and I've only listened to him about three times because of that. However, he certainly didn't deserve what he got, except for his clemency. BTW, I did believe Stone was guilty, but hated the aftermath.

And here we have Strzok, which includes three generations of Strzok's being felonious (certainly Pete and his Dad), *****ing about a possible 6 to 18 months for undeniable guilt. As you said, let's hope it was worth it.

And I don't trust Boasberg. Candidly, I'm not a big fan of anything Roberts does, which I can't believe I'm saying. His first amendment decision in California is probably worse than Obamacare, but not nearly as expensive in dollar terms.

New shipwreckedcrew piece. Probably about right.

Clinesmith strikes me as a scared true believer underling; I don't think DoJ prosecutes high ranking Democrats though, by unwritten policy.

Title of the book is awful. So is the cover design. This is a money laundering scheme to keep that dewsh quiet. In my view.
