The case was one that Team Mueller never thought would be contested. Just a PR stunt but they went after a Putin bestie. He had his company hire lawyers to fight the charges. And Team Mueller disgraced themselves, over and over and over again. Case was a disaster from the moment they were challenged with a defense.
ETA: If the case that was quietly dismissed was the GRU case, that would be for lack of prosecution. Again, just a PR stunt to hurt Trump when he was meeting with Putin in Helsinki. POS indictment that should never have happened.
