A day late and a dollar short. Law firms are experts in document management. They have to be especially for a litigation firm. Once Flynn fired them and directed them to send his files to his new counsel, Sydney, they should have complied. The fact that they didn't smells like a deliberate cover-up, which only exacerbates the prior misconduct and conflicts. The moment Flynn was the subject of a criminal case, they should have sent him to another firm. The nature of the first charges, FARA, were based on documents and communications from the firm and essentially their legal advice to him is what (appeared) to have gotten him in hot water.

If the entrapment allegations are true (which I have always believed they are) it wouldn't surprise me if Covington, Burling was aware of the set-up but said nothing to Flynn.

It's silly how horrible everything in this case is botched.

Quote:

Covington and Burling LLP, the former defense team for former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, turned over thousands of more pages of documents to Flynn's new defense team that should have been submitted more than a year ago. Last week, another batch of documents withheld by former Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team on Flynn was turned over to his defense that allegedly reveals that the retired three-star general did not commit any crimes, as suggested by Department of Justice prosecutors.

This new batch of voluminous documentation turned over by his former defense team which includes emails, texts, voice messages, notebooks, handwritten notes and legal documents amounted to approximately 6,800 additional documents bringing the total amount of documents to roughly 669,800, along with attachments.

...

"The Flynn defense is stunned that Covington and Burling has only now found thousands of additional documents amounting to more than 17,000 pages that should have been produced to the defense almost a year ago," she stated. Powell, who has been battling for documents from the Department of Justice as well, said the enormity of documents withheld from Flynn's defense is proof of the misconduct against her client.

...

Tuesday's supplemental notice, which was signed by Flynn's former defense counsel Robert Kelner with Covington and Burling LLP, stated that the reason the documents were turned over so late to Powell was due to "an unintentional miscommunication involving the firm" information technology personnel had led them, in some instances, to run search terms on subsets of emails the firm had collected for its response to document requests United States v. Wonder if they could even file that one with a straight face.

So Flynn became a target no later than August 2016 according to the Tucker Carlson clip. What else happened with Flynn's company in August 2016? They signed the deal with the Dutch company, Inovo. Then later the connections to the Turkish government were revealed.

Pardon my ignorance here, but McCarthy said something akin to "there are lots of things illegal that aren't in the penal code".

The way I hear that, if it's not in the penal code, then how can it be illegal?

"Illegality" is a term wherein procedures and protocols were not followed but are not a "crime" as defined in the penal code. Kind of depends on the consequences of the illegality. Were Flynn's constitutional rights likely violated here? Yep but that is a civil damage.

BUT remember Mike Nifong? The prosecutor in the Duke lacrosse case? That was prosecutorial misconduct and abuse of power. He also lied to the court repeatedly. He went to prison and was disbarred.

McCarthy is being cautious, as always. All he knows right now is that Flynn may have been entrapped and set up. Until more facts come out, identifying an actual crime (as opposed to a civil cause of action) is speculation. he won't go there yet.

I do hope and pray that Brandon Van Grack gets "Nifonged" though. And Flynn sues the ever living crap out Peter Strzok, Joe Pientka, McCabe, Comey and Baker, for starters.

Has anyone noticed Powell's office is on Turtle Creek in Dallas?

It's probably a meh to many here, but since she has so much business in DC and it's government related, I assumed her office was somewhere in northern Virginia!

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/christopher-steele-claims-clinton-lawyer-fed-him-debunked-claim-about-russian-collusion-in-2016

Quote:

British ex-spy Christopher Steele testified he met with Democratic lawyers during the 2016 presidential election, and one provided him with now-debunked claims about alleged Trump-Russia collusion as he compiled his dossier.

Steele, a former MI6 agent whose salacious and unverified dossier was used by the FBI in its Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act targeting of Trump campaign associate Carter Page, discussed his meetings with two lawyers tied to Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee during a deposition in a British court in mid-March, according to a transcript obtained by the Daily Caller.

Michael Sussman and Marc Elias, two top lawyers for the Perkins Coie law firm, which represented the Clinton campaign and the DNC, played an even more significant role in the Trump-Russia investigation than previously known.

Steele testified Sussman provided him with claims about Alfa Bank's purported ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a late July meeting. These allegations made their way into a mid-September 2016 memo that became part of Steele's dossier, although Steele repeatedly misspells "Alfa" as "Alpha."...

Interesting tidbit. So, was Sussman one of Steele's subsources for the dossier per Horowitz's Report? Did Horowitz know this? Then go one step further: Sussman provided the same info about Alpha Bank to James Baker during their meeting in 2016 (sometime before the Election) -- was the purpose of this exchange to validate a portion of the dossier? You know, the old circular verification trick of same source but 2 different routes or presentation. But Baker claimed in his deposition before Congress that the information Sussman gave him was unrelated to the dossier -- see Page 45 below:

Any of y'all think the Brits would be pissed if we sent a specops team to the UK to retrieve Steele so we could subpoena him for the grand jury?

BTW, as conspiracies go, most could never get beyond 3 to 4 people due to stories being conflicting and other members flipping. Even if I believed this was a conspiracy, and Durham may choose to indict on conspiracy (although Hawg said it's very hard to convict), there are so damned many people involved in this, it would be impossible for it to literally by a conspiracy,, which is kind of depressing.

To me, that means so many of these myopic, moronic, participants acted due to progressive ideology. Makes me wonder how many were approached, and chose not to participate.
