Seems someone told General Flynn the same thing too.
Told them not to hire legal counsel? Or else what? I briefly caught Pompeo saying something about House Dems declaring that State Department counsel was to be excluded from any interviews of current or past State Department employees (which is bad in and of itself) but I didn't hear anything about personal counsel being excluded. That's a violation of their 5th Amendment rights.
Then when they do, the Democrats will use it to claim obstruction.

And then when DOJ's Civil Rights Division calls those lawmakers in for an interview, return the favor and deny them counsel. Let them scream.

Congress doesn't have near the amount of immunity for their actions that they think they do. They can be held to account for civil rights violations.

Just saw a goid question on Twitter.

If there is an impeachment trial in the Senate, would those Senators running for President have to recuse themselves from the trial for conflict of interest?

Rep Thomas Massey raised the question.

Sadly, the more I read...the more I realize the Justice System (Lady Justice) isn't blind/blindfolded) as claimed. I just wasn't watching when/how the whole 'idea of fairness' became a joke. The legal process has been 'gamed' and only the wealthy/elite can afford to play.

They wouldn't have to by law, but they could be ethically questioned for participating by members of the public. This would be a political trial as versus a legal trial.

https://libertyunyielding.com/2019/09/30/july-2019-ukraine-launched-probe-of-military-sale-by-fundraiser-for-adam-schiff/

Well, well. Seems Adam Sciff indirectly has his fingers embedded in Ukrainian dealings that imply he has a motive to obscure what is going on in Ukraine. Seems Schiff (as well as Pelosi) has been the recipient of political funds that were raised by a prominent Ukrainian. That Ukrainian, Igor Pasternak, is a businessman who started his business, Aeros Corporation, in Ukraine in 1992, & then he moved it to California in 1994, locating in a district adjacent to Schiff's. Aeros makes lighter-than-air (LTA) airships & has lucrative defense contracts. It seems that Aeros received defense contracts from Ukraine for 1) military rifles (it has no experience in this area); & 2) an airborne surveillance system. The latter was found to have functionality problems as well as not being an airborne system. On July 22, 2019, the Ukrainian prosecutor's office announced that the procurement of Aeros Corporation's surveillance system was being investigated as part of a corruption probe into the Ukrainian defense contracting agency -- note the date with respect to Trump's July 25 call to Zelensky. It's doubtful that Trump knew about this investigation at that time...but Schiff surely knew about it.

The above article, although somewhat long & wordy, also brings up a point I have not seen mentioned elsewhere. During Trump's call, 'anti-tank Javelin missiles' was brought up be Zelensky. This is likely the reason that Trump had withheld military aid to Ukraine in July. It seems that last year Ukraine purchased Javelin missiles from the US and was seeking to buy more. If Ukraine was independently buying US military hardware while at the same time the US was separately giving Ukraine military aid, then it was time to sit down and review the military aid deal.

Interesting thread on PrivatBank and its key players & deals, the Ukrainian bank raided today.
Note: there may be later additions to this thread.

I have a friend who works for an oil and gas company out of Denver. They are looking at some Ukrainian properties. They teamed up with a Ukrainian group. All UkrNafta properties are off limits. UkrNafta is owned by Kolomoyskyi and it seems to be well known in Ukrain that you don't get involved with him. I bet corrupt US officials are sloppy with their overseas corruption. I bet it will be easy to find in a situation like Ukrain where leadership has turned over. It was assumed that this would never be investigated in country. I bet corrupt US politicians are soiling themselves.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/02/us/politics/adam-schiff-whistleblower.html

Quote:

The Democratic head of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, learned about the outlines of a C.I.A. officer's concerns that President Trump had abused his power days before the officer filed a whistle-blower complaint, according to a spokesman and current and former American officials.

The early account by the future whistle-blower shows how determined he was to make known his allegations that Mr. Trump asked Ukraine's government to interfere on his behalf in the 2020 election. It also explains how Mr. Schiff knew to press for the complaint when the Trump administration initially blocked lawmakers from seeing it.
Before going to Congress, the C.I.A. officer had a colleague convey his accusations to the agency's top lawyer. Concerned about how that avenue for airing his allegations was unfolding, the officer then approached a House Intelligence Committee aide, alerting him to the accusation against Mr. Trump. In both cases, the original accusation was vague.

The House staff member, following the committee's procedures, suggested the officer find a lawyer to advise him and file a whistle-blower complaint. The aide shared some of what the officer conveyed to Mr. Schiff. The aide did not share the whistle-blower's identity with Mr. Schiff, an official said.

"Like other whistle-blowers have done before and since under Republican and Democratic-controlled committees, the whistle-blower contacted the committee for guidance on how to report possible wrongdoing within the jurisdiction of the intelligence community," said Patrick Boland, a spokesman for Mr. Schiff......

Just routine, standard operating procedure. Hah!

Now we know why the complaint read as if it was written by a lawyer.

Adam Schiff's collusion with oligarch, Ukrainian arms dealer, exposed 54,091 Views | FEBRUARY 5, 2018

A Ukrainian billionaire oligarch, with military industrial complex contracts, funding Adam Schiff's campaign dinners at $2,500 a plateno wonder Schiff is pushing the Russia fear mongering so hard.
Schiff's hate for Trump and hate for Russia, can be easily explained by the money he appears to received from his oligarch patron, who has an agenda to neo-liberalize Ukraine, and profit from the pillage started in Maidan in 2014.
Perhaps its time to shine a little bit of light on Adam Schiff's Ukraine collusion.

Judicial Watch released 145 pages of Rod Rosenstein's communications that include a one-line email from Rod Rosenstein to Robert Mueller stating, "The boss and his staff do not know about our discussions" and "off the record" emails with major media outlets around the date of Mueller's appointment.

Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit after the DOJ failed to respond to a September 21, 2018, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:19-cv-00481)). Judicial Watch seeks:
Quote:

Any and all e-mails, text messages, or other records of communication addressed to or received by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein between May 8, 2017, and May 22, 2017.
The time period referred to in this suit is critical. On May 8, 2017, Rosenstein wrote a memo to President Trump recommending that FBI Director James Comey be fired.

The next day, President Trump fired Comey. Just three days later, on May 12, Rosenstein sent an email assuring Robert Mueller that "The boss and his staff do not know about our discussions."

In a May 16, 2017 email, sent the day before Mueller's appointment, Rosenstein emailed former Bush administration Deputy Attorney General and current Kirkland & Ellis Partner, Mark Filip stating, "I am with Mueller. He shares my views. Duty Calls. Sometimes the moment chooses us."

And on May 17 Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to investigate Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Also, during the same time period, between May 8 and May 17, Rosenstein met with then-acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe and other senior Justice Department FBI officials to discuss wearing a wire and invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump.

More here
So as I interpret this (and I may well be the last person to get this here), Rosenstein is telling Trump that he thinks Comey should be fired, then four days later he is emailing Mueller and admitting he is talking with Mueller regarding the Comey firing without Trump's knowledge, and then 4 days later he is promoting Mueller and telling a third party that he is called by duty to appoint Mueller (who he has been in secret conversations with regarding the Russia collusion and Comey firing - the one he told Trump was necessary), which he does the next day. He also met with McCabe and others during this same time period to discuss secretly wearing a wire to record the president, and also invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from power.

Am I the only one that thinks this is fairly clear evidence of Rosenstein conspiring to trap Trump into doing something that could then be used to remove him from office (via either the 25th or impeachment)? It seems to me that on at least two occasions he either took actions or attempted to take actions designed to entrap Trump.

And I suppose the reasoning for these actions is that Trump was/is such an existential threat to the United States that proactive measures had to be taken, rather than the rational notion that if he was such a bad guy he would naturally do something on his own in due course that would merit removal?

Rosenstein was a leaker all along. Barr likely knew that but let him stay on to turn him and pick his brain for info to give to Durham. Connect that dot with Durham being in Ukraine and Barr along with Durham in Italy, Rosey sang his black heart out. Probably got immunity to do so.

I've posted this before on this thread but right after the story came out about Rosey offering to wear a wire, he took a Friday night plane ride on AF1 with Trump to MaraLago. I have no doubt he had "meetings" with several people on that plane that told him what they knew he had done and how he would act going forward. From then on, Rosey was all in on helping Trump. I would love to have been on that plane trip.

One important function that Barr did was to have (coerce) Rosenstein stand beside him when Barr made the public statement that Trump was innocent per collusion with Russia per the Mueller Investigation, & also that there was no obstruction. That's probably the price Rosenstein had to pay to in end. If Barr hadn't had Rosenstein stand with him at that event, the Dems would have gone after Barr for over ruling Rosenstein who had presided over Mueller throughout most of the Investigation. I think that move effectively eliminated Rosenstein from any further role in the plot.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/flynn-lawyers-letter-to-barr-flynn-was-set-up-to-take-out-trump_3104023.html

Quote:

Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn's lawyer, Sidney Powell, wrote a letter to Attorney General William Barr in early June outlining her belief that the government targeted Flynn for "concocted and political purposes" in order to "take out" President Donald Trump.

She informed Barr that she intended to demand production of a large volume of evidence and suggested "a just resolution" to the Flynn case "if the evidence shows what we believe to be true." She also made several requests, including for Barr to replace the prosecution team on the case and to determine "when, how, and on what basis the first investigation of General Flynn began."........

Interesting article. Seems Sidney Powell sent a confidential detailed letter to Barr on June 6 which has just been released. Among other things, she requested that the entire Flynn prosecution team be replaced by people not affiliated with the Mueller Investigation. Lots of other things mentioned, including 34 specific requests for Brady material (her later memo to the court expanded that list to 40 items). Worth a read.
