my first thought as well. Or trump asking him what happens to his big case if these 12 Russians answer. If it crumbles, like we all think it would, Trump could end Mueller with all kinds of political cover.

Looks like the charges were filed by DOJ national security prosecutors, not Mueller. The investigation into Butiina has been proceeding for some time and was carried out parallel to Mueller's investigation, F.B.I. agents raided her home in April, and confiscated a laptop and phone. Seems she came to the US in 2016 on a student visa.
