The latter, being an 'independent politically unbiased' authority, will give the green light to proceed with indictments. There is another issue as well -- the cases must be air tight before proceeding; one mistake could lose in court -- so the OIG is being very meticulous in the evidence gathering. Schweikart has been reiterating that major RICO cases often take several years of evidence gathering before proceeding with the indictments.

Was it ever settled if Brennan converted/was sympathetic to Islam? In the sense was into well left even in Reagan era if recal. In that position and context that is more than enough. His was a nomination that was even somewhat opposed and had concerns at the time, so that's something too since most are rubber-stamped. (Until last year).
