Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, whose 27-year tenure on the U.S. District Court in Washington helped shape prosecutors' obligation to disclose evidence in criminal trials and was capped by politically explosive cases involving Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, will retire from full-time duty.

And they will take senior status - allowing the libs to pack the Circuit Courts of Appeal - they will continue to sit on the bench.

The Hubs just stumbled across this. Have no idea of its origins or veracity. FWIW. Supposed audio from a questioning of Clapper.

I would really love to see some corroboration of this.

It's true.

Quote:

A Justice Department official hired under President Biden and placed in charge of the agency's criminal division in an acting capacity is a former close associate of the attorney representing Hunter Biden in his current legal woes.

The department revealed on Inauguration Day that it had tapped Nicholas McQuaid as acting assistant attorney general overseeing the criminal division.

His official, non-acting title is principal deputy assistant attorney general.

Prior to joining the Biden administration, McQuaid was a partner at Latham & Watkins LLP alongside Chris Clark, an associate at the firm.

Clark was hired by Hunter Biden in December, after the son of the 46th president revealed he was under federal investigation for possible tax fraud and money laundering.

Thanks hawg!

You almost have to admire the brazenness. I guess that's what you can do when you know the media will absolutely cover for you.

Unreal.

You're welcome. When the news came out that Hunter's book was going to be published in April, we knew the fix was in and he was going to skate. Having his attorney's former business associate named Acting head of Crim at DOJ pretty much means Hunter's file was deep sixed. Else Hunter's lawyers would demand a delay in the release of the book.

Confessions of a crack addict as an autobiography tends to be incriminating.

Thanks for the confirmation. The Democratic Party leadership and MSM are perpetrating the most obvious corruption of the U.S. government.
This makes previous corruption like Tammany Hall look like amateurs. What's scary is they are only beginning their complete corruption of this country.
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”

Remember that zany law prof from Stanford that mocked Barron Trump during the first impeachment hearing? Saying Trump could name his son Barron but he couldn't make his son a baron.

Well, she's going to DOJ in the Civil Rights Division.

Meanwhile in the news, Manafort's long nightmare appears to be over.

Quote:

Back when Donald Trump pardoned Paul Manafort (along with several other former associates of the President) following his convictions on mortgage fraud and other financial irregularities, he was almost immediately back in legal trouble in New York State. Seeking to make sure that any and all Trump associates who had ever set foot in the Big Apple were "punished" as much as possible,

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance charged Manafort with more than a dozen crimes covering the same offenses. But despite trying to draw a distinction between federal and state prosecutorial efforts, the courts weren't buying it. After Vance lost a challenge by Manafort's attorneys at the local level, the state Court of Appeals has now confirmed the lower court's ruling and ended Vance's efforts to put the Trump associate back behind bars. (Reuters)
Quote:

New York state's highest court has rejected the Manhattan district attorney's effort to prosecute Paul Manafort, the onetime campaign chairman for former U.S. President Donald Trump, on state fraud charges.

The decision by the Court of Appeals was confirmed on Monday by a court spokesman.

It ends Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance's attempt to prosecute Manafort on 16 felony counts, including mortgage fraud, that were similar to charges for which Manafort had been convicted in federal court and had been pardoned by Trump.
As you may recall, New York state has a somewhat unique double jeopardy law in which once tried in federal court, one cannot be tried in state court on charges stemming from the same conduct.

(How well I remember the back and forth with some wannabe lawyers about the application of double jeopardy in Manafort's case. I read the pleadings and understood the charges all stemmed from the same transactions from the federal court trial, including some counts on which Manafort was acquitted.)

But I digress.
Quote:

Vance is part of the same team that's backing up New York Attorney General Letitia James in her efforts to RESIST Donald Trump, even after he's left office. She's spent more time going after Trump's tax returns and business dealings than she's invested in solving any of the state's serious crime problems. Of course, that's what she promised to do when running for office, so we shouldn't be too shocked. As part of that larger effort, anyone who was ever associated with Trump must be similarly badgered.
Quote:

Roger Stone is another matter. He was pardoned on the same day as Manafort and Kushner, but the media in New York City has been howling for a New York prosecution of Stone since the day of the pardon. But that effort could very likely end up the way Manafort's did unless prosecutors can dredge up something significantly different to charge him with.

In any event, Manafort is now officially off the hook. Those in New York looking to punish Donald Trump and his associates will have to live to fight another day.

Interesting. Eric Ciaramella again involved in impeachment saga (this time 1.0);

Quote:

Scope Memos: Limitation or Suggestion?
As the Special Counsel's investigation dragged on, and as the allegations of Trump/Russia collusion turned up no criminal activity on the part of Trump (as relayed to Trump lawyer John Dowd by Robert Mueller on March 5, 2018), its team looked elsewhere in search of a crime. Any crime.

According to one former DOJ official, some members of the Special Counsel team began to focus on an inquiry into how members of the Trump administration, current and former, handled classified information. Not whether classified information was shared with Russia or those alleged to have been foreign agents (like Carter Page). Simply whether they had mishandled or leaked classified information.

Their inquiry also looked at the reporting on H.R. McMaster by name familiar to many readers: Mike Cernovich.

Back in the February 2017, President Trump appointed H.R. McMaster as National Security Adviser. That summer, Cernovich reported that Eric Ciaramella was appointed to be McMaster's personal aid. (Ciaramella would later be alleged to have leaked Trump's call with the Ukrainian President to Alexander Vindman.) Cernovich discussed Ciaramella's ties to the Obama administration, particularly Susan Rice, and the internal concerns that he had been leaking classified information. He also accused McMaster of trying to purge Trump loyalists from the NSC and orchestrating leaks about Trump to his allies. For this he was an investigative target.

We were further advised that FBI 302s (interview summaries) relating to these matters have been kept under wraps by the DOJ. This checks-out, considering the Special Counsel Office 302s that the DOJ still refuses to release to the public in ongoing FOIA litigation.

We're curious whether this will be addressed in Special Counsel Durham's public report. Not that an investigation outside Mueller's scope - or "purview" - is technically criminal, but rather it's more of an abuse of power. An investigation of handling of classified information wasn't in Mueller's original jurisdiction as set forth in 28 CFR 600.4(a), and we have no documentation that he requested this additional authority from Rosenstein. Maybe Durham is more focused on Andrew Weissmann and other members of Team Mueller wiping their phones. Or perhaps Durham is focused on the FBI agents who went from Crossfire Hurricane to work with Mueller. Who really knows at this point.
Cernovich, to his credit, isn't surprised by all this. He provided this statement:

"I was tipped off years ago that an unlawful and unconstitutional investigation had been opened against me due to my reporting. I tweeted about it publicly at the time, and said I would gladly go to jail to protect my source. Fascists within the Department of Justice also wanted revenge because I sued to unseal records involving Jeffrey Epstein. These records proved Epstein was protected by the highest levels of government. I stand by my reporting, which was confirmed by subsequent events and also later reporting by the New Yorker. I will always risk my own safety to protect sources."

We reached out to the Department of Justice, asking if they denied this reporting. Their response in full: "We appreciate your inquiry; however, we do not have a comment."
Sorry, I don't keep up with this thread much, so if covered already again I apologize. I'm convinced Durham won't do anything, still.

It seems fitting to wrap up this thread with a long article from Real Clear Investigations describing the roadblocks and persons thwarting the truth from being told about the sham that was the Mueller investigation. Kash Patel worked with Devin Nunes and thus had access to everything. He was tasked with trying to get all of it declassified but the IC pushed back hard enough to convince Trump not to push the matter further.

Spoiler Alert: Gina Haspel is a black hat.
