I do not know when SWAT arrived on scene but I believe LV police and hotel security were on the 32nd floor when the security guard was shot in the leg and through the breaching operation.

My aunt's best friend survived that shooting. 20 years later she walked into the back yard with a kitchen knife and stabbed her self to death.

There aren't a whole lot of people in Bell County that weren't affected by that in some way. George Hennard lived in a nice big brick home in Belton and was having some sort of a dispute with the city over damages to the brick wall surrounding the property in the days before he snapped. The home and the brick wall is still there in Belton. A good friend of mine worked for a local building supply store and was selling Hennard some materials at the time and Hennard had his name written on a piece of paper in his office. Police found it and had questions with my friend about his interactions with the guy.

Edit: I don't mean to equate my friend's story with the tragic death of your Aunt's freind. Sorry if it comes across that way.

Here is how I would piece the timeline together.

Shooting begins:
About 10 minutes in, private security reaches the room on 32nd floor.
Security guard is shot. Security is told to stand down, wait for police and SWAT unit.
Shooter believes the calvary has arrived and kills himself

For the next roughly hour:
Shooting has stopped giving police and security more time to cover all bases.
Police and security clear rooms on 32nd floor and above and below.
Police move into positions at adjacent hotels, spotters are monitoring the room, continue to relay info - no shots/no movement can be seen
SWAT is satisfied they have cleared rooms to a safe distance to conduct breach.
Breach. Find shooter dead.

I can see that taking 72 minutes.

That is awful, Bunk. We have a friend since our older boy's earlier club basketball days , who didn't tell us until years later that her sister (and her sister's boyfriend) were 2 of the Florida students killed by Danny Rolling. Totally creepy stuff, and she is amazingly a well-adjusted mom and wife.
