Dang man just saw this. That's scary, glad everything is ok. My mom told me when I had my first - "don't worry, babies are built to survive new parents and older siblings." Ha!

If y'all could. Please pray for my supervisor, her daughter, son in law and soon to be 1st grand baby. She is at 28 weeks, but they fear she may have preeclampsia , tests are all over charts. Admitted her into hospital today to get better tests done and monitor.

I have a phone interview this afternoon. I could really use a win. It's not been a great month. This job has a lot of potential. I think it could be good, don't know a ton yet. Please pray for me.

Two biggies since it's been bumped.

1. My grandfather died last weekend. This is likely the end of my dad's side existing as a family that gets together and the end of my ties to west Texas (which some might consider a blessing). There's also the issue of my aunt being executor and making choices to conserve assets while caring for my granddad under her own roof, for which I expect her to compensate herself well at the expense of my father. A six figure inheritance would dramatically change my father's life for the better but I'm not optimistic. Pray that he gets at least $5K because he needs hearing aids badly but won't / can't budget or save for them.

On the praise side my grandfather has had dementia for years and hasn't known who I am for some time. He broke his ankle a few months ago so I'm grateful that his torment of waking up each day not knowing what is going on is over, along with his pain. My dad and I have been talking about my granddad's estate for years trying to figure out how he should plan and what to expect with no access to the will. It will be good to have that squared away and move past some big hurdles of trust with his sister and my cousin (who's helping her).

2. A close friend of my wife's cheated on her spouse for a year, which was discovered almost a year ago right before she planned to run away with the other man. The other man repented, sought counseling and accountability, and was embraced by his church and his wife, becoming a much better husband and father. My wife's friend has confessed many times that she does not feel anything for her husband anymore and recently asked for a separation after living under the same roof the last year (I won't call it trying to make it work). She's been going to groups for serial cheaters and is making progress but we're worried about this step.

Thanks for the prayers.

I'm not good at asking for help, but here goes...

My 12-year old son was diagnosed with severe autism about 10 years ago. He is non-verbal. His condition has not improved much since his diagnosis, and in some ways, it has gotten worse. He's pretty much an adolescent baby. For at least the last 5-6 years, he has had mildly violent outbursts. That is until puberty arrived. Now, there are holes in the drywall, broken doors, etc. And at nearly 50 years old, I am quickly wearing down.

Please pray for my son, Cameron, that he overcome whatever pain is causing his violence and finally find comfort, and maybe a little bit of normalcy. Please pray for his older brother, who I was never able to take on a father-son outing; please pray for his younger sister who fears her brother and who also suffers from occasional neglect due to all the time we dedicate to her brother. And both siblings have unfortunately had to see their parents get into nasty arguments from the never-ending stress and sleepless nights. Pray that they find peace and understanding that ours is not a normal family.

Finally, please pray for his mother and me. Due to Cameron's unpredictable, potentially violent behavior, I am literally under house arrest, as I have been for about the last 5 years and will be for the foreseeable future. We don't have any extended family nor friends close enough to ask for assistance. And should we dare take him to the park, or anywhere, and he get violent, you would undoubtedly think I was killing my kid when actually, I'm just trying to prevent him from hurting himself or others. Not only that, but should he have an outburst while one of us was driving, it could end horribly. So, we stay home day after day, week after week, year after year.

I'm sorry that I waited so long to ask for prayers from my Aggie family. But I'm asking now. If you made it this far, thank you.

Also, I will probably be flying to Portland first week of march for an in person interview. Just have to get the dates/flights nailed down.

I'm tentatively very excited but a bit afraid to get too optimistic. Please keep me in your prayers. The job situation in my life has been hard for a while.

Man I am praying for you. I have a 6 year old daughter who has a genetic condition. She doesn't have anger outbursts but she has episodes where she gets hysterical and loses control. In public it looks like I am tackling and roughing up my daughter but I am just trying to keep her still or get her to walk.

One thing that works for her is singing. I have a co-worker who has a grown autistic son where singing has helped calm her grown son as well. Just an idea for a desperate moment.

I don't know if you have tried this, but swimming is really good for kids woth sensory issues like autism. The water is soft and soothing. I've taught several autistic kids to swim and I love it. Once they trust you, it is the best feeling and you can figure out ways to get them to learn quick.

God bless yall.

Wow! I am humbled by the responses. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

While he has ups and downs every day, Cameron became calm and was all smiles soon after your prayers started coming in. And yesterday was particularly challenging until then. Praise God!

Interestingly, when Cameron is really suffering, he will "sing" (really, he hums) the "Little Einsteins" theme.
Also, we had a pool built specifically to give Cameron something to do and because we are aware that the water meets all of his sensory needs. Lately, he's been banging his head against the coping. Hopefully, the self-harming is just a passing phase.
I guess the best thing about having the pool is that it makes our house a gathering place for our other kids' friends. And some of them will engage Cameron, which we can see really brightens him up. As parents, it brings us great joy just to hear the children's laughter coming from our backyard.

I'll keep you all posted with Cam's progress. Thank you again.

I had a difficult kiddo this summer who would pull out her hair. Not autistic, but sensory symptoms and what not presented the same.

I explained to her mom that if she tried to hurt me, I would take her underwater with me. It was kinda funny watching her mom be relieved that I wasn't going to be scared or use kid gloves and that I understood hair pulling was absolutely not allowed.

But getting her comfy with floating on her back was probably one of my favorite swim lesson accomplishments because it went from scary to comforting.

Im so glad yall have things that work!

You're doing the Lord's work! Most folks, even family, don't know how to engage, so they just avoid us. I'm sure the girl's mom was relieved that you took control of the situation. For what it's worth, when I'm in the pool with Cameron, I'll take him underwater if he gets out of line with me. For some people, that seems mean, but I know of nobody who is more in his element than my Cameron in any body of water.

Much appreciated.

In relation to that, my wife got a call today that insurance is NOT going to cover speech therapy. We've been battling for an official diagnosis but the condition is rare and has come up negative on all tests so far. Until we get a diagnosis we get to battle insurance for every treatment.

Just pray we get it worked out.

Oh and Swimmerbabe11, you are 100% right. My daughter is nuts about the water and would swim in the winter if I let her.

Frok,
I'm praying for your daughter and you, as well.

Maybe one day we can swap "funny" stories (like the time my wife and I used respite funds to hire our ABA therapist to keep Cameron overnight so we could get away for one night. Long story short, therapist had to lay on top of him in the median of IH35 North so he wouldn't run into traffic on the highway. When the Austin police arrived at the scene, they were yelling at the therapist to get off of the child. Boy, that could have ended poorly).
Anyway, sorry for the thread derail.

Thank you all again for the prayers.

Haha, never a dull moment right?

Yeah I think it's important to connect with other people with special needs kids. It's good to have a group to vent with that understands your struggles.

God will open the right door. Romans 8:28 always comes to my mind in situations like this. Will continue to pray.

Hey guys,

I found this thread a couple of weeks ago, but didn't feel like bumping it just to say this: if you've posted something on here in the last half year or so, and it looked like something that wouldn't be quickly resolved, there's someone praying for you sincerely and personally.

I'm one of many (that's the point of this thread, after all), but I hope that encourages some of you. If that doesn't help coming from a random guy on the internet, how about this:

Matthew 6:25-26 said:

"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink , nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value that they?"
(See also: Psalm 139. This post is long enough without me adding it here).

I think this thread is really wonderful. In my small group, we have been discussing the Church, its purpose, and our role as members. A big piece of that is unity. Most of the discussion on this board is about the things that divide us (which is, of course, what internet discussions encourage), but this is a place where we can come together as brothers and sisters to "stir up one another to love and good works" (Hebrews 10:24) by building each other up in prayer. I think that's beautiful.

And finally, my prayer for y'all today:
Romans 1:7 said:

To all those [on TexAgs] who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I mean, you're welcome, but that one's on the Spirit. I've felt unusually compelled to post it for the last day or so but didn't really have time to organize my thoughts until this afternoon.

So I guess that's the same point as my last post: your brothers and sisters have your back, but we are acting on behalf of someone else.
