Nathan Fielder has become the most fascinating person in Hollywood. In a world where people constantly (and rightfully) complain about the lack of creativity and new ideas out of the industry... this guy comes up with the most fascinating, insane, bat**** things ever imagined. I have no idea how he does it, his brain should be studied.


And I still think The Curse is one of the most amazing things put out in recent memory.

I don't think I could sit through 2 hours if it's anything like that teaser. That scene was creepy as f. Both Holmes and the dude interviewing her.

I'm wondering what this doc could actually be about that would make it as compelling as some of the reviews claim. Her story is well known so I doubt there are any new revelations about the criminal case. This doesn't seem like it is another of the docs with "new info that challenges the guilty verdict".

I would find a doc where she actually takes full ownership of what she did fascinating.

I doubt that anything compelling about this doc would be around the case and its details. Defrauding investors, overpromising, and underdelivering happens regularly. I would think that the most compelling thing is peeling back the psychology behind people who are willing to go down this route. We've seen that before with other docs, sure. But a live-in experience with the subject itself? That part is interesting to me. I mean, look at her eyes dude.

He has a tendency to take mundane things and make them into insanity. What started off as trying to learn how Sully saved that plane over the river turned into him building a larger than life nursery so he could pretend to be a baby Sullivan being raised by 12 foot tall puppet parents. He recreated a section of an airport complete with security checkpoints and people going about their day in the fake airport.

This ended with him becoming a certified 737 pilot and flying people around for 2 hours

It's a "satirical docu-reality comedy series" that's pretty much a cult classic at this point, and personally one of my all-time favorite comedies. At only eight episodes per season, with each episode running only 22 minutes, it's super easy to knock out all 32 episodes, and is currently available on Paramount+, HBO Max, and multiple other services. I would definitely start here.

The Rehearsal, Fielder's follow-up series, has aired two seasons on HBO so far (six episodes each), in 2022 and 2025. It's basically the "prestige" version of Nathan for You, and season two, in particular, is pretty jaw-dropping, as it features one of the most incredible feats/reveals I've ever seen in something like this. Granted, this show isn't everyone's cup of tea - it's not as accessible/funny as Nathan for You - but man, if you do jibe with it, it's amazing.

The Curse is Fielder's only scripted series to date, airing on Paramount+ in 2023, between seasons of The Rehearsal, co-starring Fielder and Emma Stone. Fair warning, though, it's easily the least accessible of his stuff, and weird as hell. But like The Rehearsal, if it's even remotely on your wavelength, it's pretty ****ing incredible, and features one of the wildest, most what-the-**** series finales of all time. Personally, I loved it.

Basically, overall, think of Fielder as our modern day Andy Kaufman, except more dry/deadpan, and more hipster-friendly, but perhaps even more committed to "the bit." In that sense, Fielder and Holmes together in this way is kind of like an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object, and we can't wait to see the result. It's like Batman and the Joker finally squaring off.

I'm jealous of people who are just now discovering him who get to watch all those shows for the first time... especially NFY.
