I've never seen Days of Thunder despite being 11 when it came out. Is it actually any good or is it one of those movies that's incredibly dated and only good if you saw it at the time?

It's not as good as Top Gun, but it's fun, has a great cast, and is one of the best-looking movies of the '80s. I love, love, love the cinematography in Days of Thunder. I watch it just to look at it sometimes, if that makes sense. No one did it like Tony Scott.

I've always loved the way Tony Scott movies look, it's unique and saturated, but not over the top. You can tell when he's put his stamp on something. You could put his movies on mute and still be entertained by the visuals, even though the sound is a big deal on his movies too. Based on his filmography Days of Thunder is probably the movie where his movies start to look specifically like Tony Scott movies, if that makes sense. Looking at his resume it's sad he's already been gone this long, Unstoppable was his last directed movie and that came out 16 years ago and his brother at 88 years old just had another movie come out.

Is NASCAR still a thing?

Remember in '08 or so when NASCAR was supposedly the NEXT BIG THING? It was supposed to rival the big four sports. Guess that didn't work out.

That's because it's boring as hell. The only good thing about watching it is the final lap or two...sometimes.

I love race car movies; real life races aren't nearly as good.

It was very big from 2000 though im guessing 2008. I remember finding an interest in it as i tend to love all sports. Man, it has totally faded

As others have said, it's Top Gun: Race Cars.

If you liked Top Gun, you will probably like this. Unless you've just moved on from that.

It's worth a watch just to see Duvall though.

Spot on.

The dumb playoffs is out and the Chase is back. The new crop of younger drivers are awesome and now there's some hot heads included in it. Get back in now before it takes off again.

I could be misremembering but it felt like they tried to reinvent itself as an organization around when they were no longer associated with The Winston Cup. The Nextel Cup didn't have the same ring to it. Perhaps trying to distance yourself as an organization from cigarettes was overestimating your brand?

Sprint Cup, however, was a great name!

I tried to get into it around that time. But like one poster said, it was just boring to me.
