Seriously, though, I literally can't say. Filming begins in February, so we'll almost assuredly hear at some point this fall, if not sooner. I don't even know what the role entails, I just know that it's a big enough name to imply that it's not simply "the girlfriend" or "the concerned wife" or whatever. That's the only reason I mentioned it, because they're clearly doing something different here than with the love interests in, say, Maverick or F1 or whatever. But the news hasn't broke yet and I don't want to get anyone in trouble. Also, there's a chance it may change, though it did sound like a done deal to me. We shall see.

Top Gun: Maverick had Monica Barbaro. There can be room for younger actresses that aren't necessarily Tom's love interest.

Sydney is the love interest of Tom and Nicole's kid that is the up and coming driver that Tom didnt know about.

Its just top gun in cars. So we just need to break down the plot in Top Gun 2 and we will have the movie.

Tom trains a new driver how to win. The driver struggles; Tom shows him how the "impossible" can be done, the new driver gets confidence, and they are both racing together in the "BIG" race. Something happens, a sacrifice is made, and a victory occurs from nothing. A lot of high fives. The middle scene is Tom visiting a hot chick and wishing he could of done it differently.

Edit: I will 100% be in the movie theatre to watch this. I saw the original like 5-6 times.

Sounds great. Mix in some incredible action sequences and awesome music. Maybe a car wash scene where hot people in swimsuits show off their bodies.

It will be immersive, authentic and made by a huge production team who's sole goal is for you to have fun at the movies.

I'm curious how this plays out.

Days of Thunder was Top Gun in a NASCAR. It's nearly the exact same storyline.

It would be funny if DoT2 ends up being Top Gun Maverick in a car.

But that's basically what F1 is...

So I'm curious how this all plays out.

Because he's an American hero, that's why.

Was told today that the exact release date and female lead will be announced in two weeks. Deal for the latter is now officially done.

Not sure this one should be redone but I'm in for sure.

It will be interesting to see if this movie can stand more in its own without the nostalgia multiplier that TG:Maverick had.

Days of Thunder just isn't iconic so the callbacks and nostalgia element really won't be there to nearly the extent that they were in Maverick.
