Her answer about implying Devens had privilege and elitism was crap. Absolutely no need for that.

Glad Devens won. He played a nearly perfect game. This was the best season in a long time.

Meh. I think it was a weak answer and she butchered it. But what else would she have said? Literally the only argument of why he didn't deserve to win over her could be he had built in advantages. As you said, he played a basically perfect game and blew everyone else away.

her premise was fine. but she absolutely used language that is synonymous with racial accusations in the world today

that was on purpose.

she also said "systematic".

she checked the box of every catch phrase they use to call people racist.

I also think its complete chicken **** she threatened to not vote for him and be able to flip Lala that easy.

if I was Lala I would be pissed about that. She is too dumb to even know how lame that is though.

Yep, it held veiled racial overtones and you saw Devens surprised/mad facial reaction. He addressed it in his final plea when he said despite his opponent's claims, that he earned every bit of his success in the game, and that he worked his tail off for it.

1) CBS, Big Brother, and especially the houseguests are generally the type of people that eat that **** up. So can't really fault her.

2) You could argue that the various "icons" coming in together, their instant alliance, them getting asinine powers, etc. were systematic advantages given to them. Not catch phrase racist the system is against me, but the system is favoring CBS reality stars to incentivize them to continue going on these shows. I'm not saying I agree, but you could make that case. And it's really the only case she could make, she just sucked at doing so.

I agree.

I think that's why Devens emphasized it. But don't think Lala cared, probably because it was true

You are probably right. It may be that she was nervous and didn't express herself very well. But she also made a comment in her opening statement about being used to being an underdog as a black public school teacher in the south, so when she mentioned privilege and elitism towards the end it felt like her plea was in that same vein. Given all that, she was clearly nervous and realizing it wasn't going well for her, and she got desperate to swing the momentum her way. Sorry for the derail.

In the end, I'm glad Devens won. When he went out to hug his family was a cool moment. He genuinely seemed to have fun and enjoy himself, and he played a near flawless game.

I agree with both of these statements.

Loved Devens all year. He seemed to have so much fun. Taylor's speech was essentially "vote for me because I'm black and have it hard"

Part 2 of the HoH occurred last Friday, there was 5 to 6 days of game talk they didn't show last night. Based on the RHAP recap there were various threats regarding votes during the week we didn't get to see. Devens had one against Taylor, and she did something similar to Devens on Wednesday night. The final evictee has so little chance to talk to the other jurors or swing a vote that it shouldn't be that effective of a strategy, but Devens didn't want to chance it.

Just glad the HG that played the most complete game won. Drew or Yash not winning favorite player was surprising

Edit: Also, Devens put on a clinic of how to give the final speech and answer jury questions. They rarely ever swing a vote, but his preparation and delivery would make the difference in a tight vote. Guess it isn't surprising since he is a communications director

Except that it was true, and actually one of the complaints myself and others had: the icons had a built-in advantage. She was just terrible in articulating it.

What was the built in advantage other than knowing each other and being potential allies from the start? It seems to me that it put just as much a target on their backs as it did any advantage.

They were the only ones that could play in the first HoH. I see it as both a small advantage and a leverage risk by CBS to make sure they were there for at least a week for rankings.

The problem were the advantage falls apart is the second HoH comp was 13-2 with only Devens and Angela playing. All they had to do was win and take one of them out.

Then you have 4 straight weeks they could have gone after the Icons and they didn't. Small advantage, but it still could have been negated had they teamed up against the icons instead of with icons.

you forgot one. The power where America votes and they go do that spinning chair thing. They were obviously going to win those (Dee and Devens) because they had thousands of fans already.

Agreed, but unless you believe it was rigged, those could have just as easily been a punishment. The first one in was Angela and it was a punishment.

It is the same every season where when looking back they should get the icons or past house guests out, but they never do. They keep them because of their experience in these type of shows and the newbies want to hear and learn from them. One they decide to target icons/past guests, alliances are too strong. That to me is the biggest advantage.

I had forgotten about the first HOH being icons only, but as you said, that becomes a bit of a disadvantage the next week, at least for the winner. Yet Devens went in and won the second HOH fair and square, and it allowed them to continue building the alliances that got them through the game. Those alliances didn't happen by accident, they were carefully thought out, maintained, and used until they were no longer viable or needed.

I agree, most of the newbies were star struck and foolish for not taking the icons out early. But again, the icons were smart enough to leverage their status and use it to their advantage. That took a good level of skill and brilliant gameplay on their part.

Yes, but there was just as much a chance they would get the punishment as there was the reward. Maybe them winning a reward was just luck or maybe it was rigged. Or maybe it was them paying attention and timing their selection right. But either way, both Devens and Dee took the advantages they won and used them to perfection.

Anyone who has played a reality game before has an advantage. It is the role of the newbies to TARGET the vets immediately before they can consolidate too much power.

My only complaint is that EVERYONE should have been eligible for the first HOH.

How long have you been watching BB? Of course the Capsule was rigged for the Survivors to get advantages to keep them in longer. CBS always rigs it to give advantages to the players they want to be around. See seasons with Evil Dick, Abrahamian, and even Omarosa.

Also, the Survivors each had 2 seasons of experience under their belts including Dee winning. Angela had BB experience and went really far. That combined experience is a HUGE advantage. It was an intimidating force that drew people to team up with them so they would not be bulldozed.

Highly doubtful, but would like to see no more vets..

all of the above is true.

There should never be comps or powers where the audience cannot clearly tell if its rigged or not. That one was BS.
