Alright, so I was maybe the last person on earth to hear about the Texas Killing Fields. Lived in Houston for 13 years and never heard about it. Anyway, found out there was a movie about it...my wife being born and raised, I've been waiting a long time to watch this together. For a movie guy, it's not often that I get to stumble across something from the past that I missed. Like a hidden gem. Especially since it was so close to home.

Cast: Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Sam Worthington, Jeffrey Morgan...even Stephen Graham
Director: Ami Mann (daughter of one my all time favorites Michael Mann)

And the movie? Whole lot of meh. There were moments done well I suppose. But the acting, the plot, and the cohesion of the story-telling was so choppy and disjointed. What a turd. 3 out of 10 for me. I was so annoyed watching it.

Anyway, I really wanted to like this movie for all the reasons above. But a completely missed opportunity to tell a story about something that actually matters to a lot of us.

Anyway, you have any others that were total misses like this?

I had high hopes going in on the Motley Crue Dirt movie because I was a huge fan as a teen in the 80's, but I thought that movies sucked.

I thought Yesterday was very mediocre. The trailer was amazing.

exactly….the middle was great because it focused on the music and the hole in this guy's life without the Beatles….beyond that, it became a generic love story…. my two cents

Had the right guy in hanks but the entire feel of the movie seemed off

World War Z and I'll add that it never should have been a movie in the first place. It should have been a limited series on HBO or Prime.

Same commentary with Dark Tower although they are trying to make this one right at least via series. Just not sure they will actually pull it off.

This. Such an incredible book and the movie was so bad.

I thought it was ok, but for a movie lead by Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone, and Samuel L. Jackson with a strong story, it should've been great.

Should never have been a movie. This was much better suited for a multi-season epic on HBO.

Decent movie but doesn't quite live up to the really interesting concept.

World War Z based on the book would have been an awesome HBO series.

The movie was nothing like the book.

Which version? Presuming you are thinking of the recent version, not the 50s version? I've never seen either although I've read the book a number of times.
