So I lucked into a ticket tonight after work (I live across the pond), and this movie is pretty awesome. Is it my favorite Nolan film? I don't think so, but I really enjoyed it.
I feel like, and this might be with anything, if you go into this movie with a frown thinking it'll be bad, you might not like it. I had a few nitpicks on one character (none of the ones discussed here), and it felt it dragged a bit in the second act. But the set pieces are undeniably badass, and the last act/ending is simply stunning. Nolan is a freaking wizard. It was worth the hype IMO.
I already had tickets to go see it with a group on Sunday afternoon and can't wait for a repeat showing. See it on the biggest screen you can.
was the modern language an annoyance, or not too bad?

Literally the first negative review posted here I vouched for the guy's bonafides/character, seeing as I personally knew/employed him.
Since then, I've gone out of my way, multiple times, to say that if you end up not liking the movie, I have zero issue with that / nothing against you. I would have to be insane to say or think otherwise.
Rather, if you actually read the words I write, I'm only combating those who are clearly acting in bad faith.
Now...
QUIT ****ING LYING ABOUT ME.
You keep doing so, over and over and over again, to the point of harassment, and I'm sick of it.
Leave me the **** alone.

Stop trolling, lying about me, and spamming the thread with verifiable bull**** and I will.
TCTTS said:There are three wives in The Odyssey movie: Penelope, Helen and Clytemnestra. Here's a question for all of you. Why would Nolan cast the same actress to play both Clytemnestra and Helen? This is in no way required in the original story. What do they have in common and how are…

Has anyone answered why he does this, when there are numerous major cities without a single applicable Imax theater? I am sure it was discussed but I probably missed it.
Nearest theater for a Houstonian is Dallas. Crazy how much standard theater crops out.

Having seen it, and knowing Nolan's history with Hathaway, there's not anyone else I could see in that role.Quote:
Hathaway was good, but her best scene was quite honestly a mirror of her emotional scene in Le Mis….

Take me back to when TexAgs didn't have Twitter embed capability.
There is a scene in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey in which you can actually see Matt Damon cringing out of his skin at Page's atrocious acting as it is happening. Damon himself delivers lines of dialogue in the most wooden and uninspired way I have seen in a serious film.

Some of Christopher Nolan's movies demand to be seen on the big screen.

Quite sure. He's one of my best friends. We talk politics quite a bit.
Most of this board would hate him.

Brits aren't the right people to ask. They have zero command of the English language and mispronounce virtually everything.

So- I've now seen it.
Found it rather disorganized/scattered/messy, particularly the beginning. But beautifully shot, as expected. I mean gorgeous.
Holland- quite fantastic. If anybody is winning acting awards, it's him.
Hathaway- Great.
Damon- Good.
Page/N'yongo- not even there enough for the very *many* pages spilled over all that.
Cashing out my Kalshi "Best Adapted Screenplay" bet as this is definitely not that. But beautifully shot.
No movie should be 2:50. The 2 folks to my right bailed about halfway through. The theatre was otherwise full at 2PM.
