The Odyssey is the worst movie ever made. It's propaganda to demoralize you. It's a humiliation ritual.

What? No of course I haven't seen it. You just have to take my word for it.

Get excited, half of you - The new LOTR movie is all white, and Andy Serkis DGAS if you don't like it.

There are plenty of all-black, all-Hispanic, all-whatever, and multiracial stories out there that can be made into movies, and many of them have been. A movie being all white when the source material was all white shouldn't even be a headline.
Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY has debuted with 232,972 admissions on its first day in French theaters, marking the third biggest opening of the year behind Michael and Super Mario Galaxy. An exceptional start. pic.twitter.com/HZfgvFgnAI

Everything's a headline, dude.

Agreed. Just came back from IMAX and it is an insanely good film.

I don't like the casting choices of Page or Lupita (though small roles). Also, Patel has a huge part which also doesn't make any sense.
People can criticise casting, it's fair. But the film is brilliant.

As a guy that leans right, The Odyssey was ****ing amazing.
The only ones saying it wasn't are the people that call anything they don't like 'woke' (ironic because they said they were boycotting this film, so you're either lying about seeing it in order to review bomb, or you supported 'woke').
There is literally no way you watch that movie and don't leave the theater feeling like you've just seen something special, unless you made your minds up beforehand

Look at this. Multiple critics are uploading the exact same review word for word, twice on Rotten Tomatoes, just to push The Odyssey’s critic score higher.

Why is it so important to some that every critic hold exactly the same opinion?

This attitude of intolerance has made discussing films so boring.
My opinion does not invalidate your opinion.
In any case, enjoy this video of @FilmThreat’s review of The Odyssey to music.…

Just some critics and average joes.

So I lucked into a ticket tonight after work (I live across the pond), and this movie is pretty awesome. Is it my favorite Nolan film? I don't think so, but I really enjoyed it.
I feel like, and this might be with anything, if you go into this movie with a frown thinking it'll be bad, you might not like it. I had a few nitpicks on one character (none of the ones discussed here), and it felt it dragged a bit in the second act. But the set pieces are undeniably badass, and the last act/ending is simply stunning. Nolan is a freaking wizard. It was worth the hype IMO.
I already had tickets to go see it with a group on Sunday afternoon and can't wait for a repeat showing. See it on the biggest screen you can.

Clytemnestra sounds like a venereal disease. How did one sister get stuck with that name while the other gets Helen?

Uh oh.
Now the question is, do you qualify as an "Average Joe" and/or "normie"?
Because if you do, this isn't a good sign for the haters.
Seriously, though, awesome to hear.
Thanks for sharing.
