My top two are:

1. Vader at the dinner table. That shocked me so much as a kid. And even today, the claustrophobic room with his evil presence, the betrayal and Solo's futile attempt add up to a pretty scary scene.



2. Coin flip for your life

Everyone knows that Bardem nailed that role. This scene is so chilling.



Space may be the final frontier, but it’s made in a Hollywood basement.

The first movie I ever saw in a theater was E.T. I was almost four years old. The scene where the government came to take E.T. in the hazmat suits freaked me out for years. I think if I were to ever talk to a psychologist, they would find that all my issues lead back to that one scene.

To this day I absolutely hate that movie. I was 8 when our parents took us. First, I just didn't like the alien. I thought it was gross and the sounds it made didn't settle. But the scene where they find him face down in the river freaked me out. Wasn't there like a racoon next to him? Anyway, never watched it again.

As a young kid, I remembered how bad I was freaked out during Raiders of The Lost Ark when they opened the Ark and the spirits turned demonic and killed everyone with their eyes open. After watching it I made sure I closed my eyes during that scene for fear of death.

That ending was a serious WTF?

1979 was actually a tough year for my ability to sleep - with Alien (I consider to be science fiction more than horror), that ending of The Black Hole, and then Apocalypse Now. The sequence where we learn that Chef lost his head.
