How could watch the interviews and not know what the movie is about?
Given enough interviews, everyone will say something stupid. Most artists seem out there, but I'm not paying money to hear them talk, just to enjoy their performances.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are both show stoppers in Wicked. I can't recommend it enough.

Huh? A few clips from the interviews went viral solely for how weird and creepy and fake those two actresses were being together. It is nails on a chalkboard...you should check them out.

I haven't heard anything bad about the movie.

Wife and I watched it on Tuesday. Here are my thoughts..

- Didn't mind that they played on the word "fairest" .. cause let's face it .. Gal G she is not. (Snow White was a B+.. but no way was she more attractive the Gal)
- The music was blaaa . sorry but not impress with the new music. Frankly if Moana, Frozen and many other Disney great has taught us.. great music can save a movie. I did like the two times they had the classic songs.
- Don't understand the need to CGI the dwarves.. sorry hire real actors and let have fun. See LOTR for an example on how to do it.
- Did not mind that they change the Prince to a thief/actor .. didn't really change the story .. allows it to focus on her which is a modern message that my wife actual liked.


Overall - this movie could have been good if 1. They had a more likeable Snow White and 2. They had better music and songs.

Bonus: The CGI animals were great and the intro after the Huntsman was really well done.

a 50% drop isn't terrible….its not great but we've seen worse with bigger flops that are around 65% or higher….

However early projections were off on this movie so time will tell quickly if these are also off….

The big tell here however is the international box office…..typically these Disney remakes do 2x or 3x the US domestic box office and that is not the case here…..which doesn't bode well at all for this film

The good news is that Snow White enters the public domain in about 8 years, then we're going to get plenty of different options of live action versions of the original movie.

I think the 65% number is typically seen on good openings that turn out to be terrible movies. This one diverts from a terrible opening and an above average drop off. If it does $15-$20 million domestic this weekend, I think it's safe to say it's over.

International has indeed been terrible. I think it did less than $1 million opening in China, which is kind of incredible considering the size of the market. I think other live actions have had domestic as something like 40% of total gross, and this is coming in at like 55%. I've said it before, but this could easily end up in Marvels territory (I think it will) or worse (that would be really difficult).

The entire thing feels like a curated and hinky psyop. I think it is much more likely Disney is generating manufactured sympathy for Israel with some government assistance.

It is simply unrealistic an absolute mid looking girl is paired with probably the hottest Jewish woman on the planet and goes "Yay Palestine" on camera.

Nothing in big entertainment happens without a script. If we are lucky, the film industry will be relegated to a novelty thing like radio serial dramas and point-and-click computer games so the true cinema fans can get back to enjoying the big screen experience without the subliminal messages and hidden agendas the movies of today foist on the viewers.

You underestimating the cluelessness of a young actress that lives in the Hollywood bubble. And their narcissistic tendency to think their opinion on everything should be shared. Ellen Page, anyone?

This isn't some giant conspiracy to generate sympathy for Israel.

Disney cast this when things were looking relatively calm in the Levant, by their standards. It was pretty bad luck after Oct 7th to have on your cast one of the few Israelis in Hollywood who won't bow to the left's pressure to disparage Israel costarring with a typical Gen Z female who thinks every moment in front of a camera is her time to like speak her truth about like world issues n stuff. Perfect storm for Disney, but they deserve it.

TBF, last Friday included Thursday previews, so close to a 70% drop. That's still catastrophic though. It would be hilarious if this didn't make it past $200 million, and there's a solid chance it might not. Hell, it might not make it past $150 million.

Didn't we already get this with Kristen Stewart and Snow White and the Huntsman?

Mods have made it pretty clear that they'll allow political or non-content oriented discussion when it's relevant to the performance of a movie at the box office. People might want to pretend that the movie is just mediocre and that's why it tanked, but it's not the case. That's a big factor of course, but even if it were amazing, the controversy surrounding Zegler would drag it down.

$285 million sounds generous at this point. Minecraft may push this even further down next weekend, and I think people are planting this solidly in the, "Wait to stream it," category when it comes to word of mouth.

I admire all the effort TC brings to this board, and if you go back to the beginning of this current spat, someone was absolutely passive aggressively mocking him. But if he had just ignored those comments, then this thread would be way less of a beating for all involved.

And I don't mean to single him out, there are several posters on continually on both sides of these arguments who can't just let people not agreeing with them or posting controversial ideas go. For example, I probably agree with atmag's political views around 90% of the time. The 10% of the time I don't though, I don't try to convince him he's wrong, because nobody has ever convinced that guy he's wrong of anything in the 15 years I've been on this forum. If you think they are wrong, just let them know, and be done with it. As we have seen over the past few years, nobody is going to change their minds. And some people here just like to stir the pot.

Part of the problem is that the public voices of the product in question say a lot of crazy ****, too. In the case of the product that is the subject of this thread, one voice seems to be a hateful person and has said some pretty vile things, publicly, about the other side.

It's not fair that you get lumped into that ball of crazy and sometimes I've felt the urge to call out posters who've singled you out for no reason. Maybe I'll start doing that, but you don't seem like the kind of person that needs or wants to have people fight your battles. I really wish both sides of the aisle would do a better job of policing the crazies.

I have no idea, and neither do you; Despite your very scientific, and totally relevant observations about a thread on TexAgs. The only really objective way to interpret the information (other than throwing online rankings completely out the window) is comparing it to other rankings on the same platform/site.

While making major strides from the last time I posted, all the way back up to 1.6*, it's still pretty dang close to the bottom of the list on IMDB.

I'm loving every second of this movie's failure.
