Mutants in the MCU is a pretty big move forward, do y'all not think?

Haven't they been around under a different name since QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch?

But these are the actual X-Men mutants in the MCU, not some experiments. This has to be what feige was referring to in his 8/10 comment.

Meh. They've been teasing us with it since Wandavision with Quicksilver, and we already saw them in MoM too.

It's kind of old news at this point.

Plus with all the multiverse shenanigans, nothing really feels significant anymore. Characters from old franchises pop up all the time and it doesn't really mean much anymore.

I think the movie was fine on it's own and people aren't wrong to point out that plot isn't what people come to deadpool for. I think it was just like the other deadpool movies and I enjoyed it but I probably won't ever fee lthe need to go back an watch it again.

But I think underneath that is the same **** Marvel has been pulling. Loads of fan service cameos in a really weak story. I think its the only thing they know how to do at this point. Its hard to judge this movie as anything other than what you expect a deadpool movie but this movie did nothing to make me feel like Marvel is capable of achieving what they did before.

Nothing about this makes me think Marvel is on the right track.

Is it? Literally everything is in the MCU they just place it in some random universe that is part of the multiverse.

He went to earth 616. Wouldn't that put a mutant in the sacred timeline? Maybe kind of strained but that's generally how I take it.

To be fair, the more I've read/heard about the behind-the-scenes of this movie, the more it sounds like it was Ryan Reynold's baby, and not so much of a Feige/Marvel effort. They kind of just let Reynold's go hog wild over in the corner, with all the old X-Men stuff, and gave him a couple of inconsequential MCU toys to play with in the process (like the TVA's junior varsity team).

Otherwise, this was still developed prior to the Iger "correction," and I'm not going judge whether Marvel's on the right track again until after the one-two punch of Captain America: Brave New World / Thunderbolts next February and May, respectively. Those movie are post-correction, and then The Fantastic Four in July will be the true make-or-break moment, and based on the footage for it that debuted this past weekend, I'm going with "make" in a big way.

That said, the one thing I *am* somewhat "concerned" about is this whole "anchor being" thing, which I find incredibly stupid, but is apparently the one thing introduced in this movie that will have consequences going forward, as alluded to by Feige...

so does Deadpool's timeline have 2 Logans in it now?

Logan "prime" dies in the future after most of the mutants have been wiped out, which causes a ripple effect that slowly decays/destroys the timeline. Wade brings a different Logan back to his present (dead Logan's past), so there should now be two of them. That means there will also be two X-23's.

I wouldn't think about it too much but yes to Logan not sure to x23. She may not be born yet.

It isn't dead Logan's past; this Wolverine didn't know Laura. He's from a different reality all together.

I know that.

Wade's present is dead Logan's past. The future of Wade's timeline is mutants being wiped out and Logan dying in South Dakota. If Wade brings another Logan over, that's 2 Logans. X-23 might not be born yet, but when she is, that will be two X-23s in that timeline as well.

FWIW, 2 Logans is what ScreenCrush is surmising.

I didn't think of this, but yeah, you're right. Again, D&W takes place in 2024 (not just in our world but Deadpool's as well), while Logan takes place in 2029. So technically, for five more years, yeah, there are two Logans roaming Earth-10005, one in New Jersey with Deadpool & co, and one in El Paso with Charles and Caliban.
Dro07

He can't be in with Charles yet though right he? "X-men" are still alive. I know we only see Colossus and Negasonic but Deadpool still jokes about budgets and not getting the rest of them.

TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
You're probably right. I have no idea when the mutants are/were wiped out, but I guess it makes more sense that it happens between 2024 and 2029. I should have said one Logan is in New Jersey with Deadpool & co, while the other - the one who ends up with Charles and Caliban in El Paso - is out there somewhere. Heck maybe even relatively close by in New York, if the mansion is still up and running.

I just checked, and the Days of Future Past bookends take place in 2023. So the "fixed" version of 2023, where all the X-Men are still alive and everything is hunky dory, is just one year prior. So yeah, then the school is almost assuredly still up and running, and Logan is there, before **** hits the fan at some point prior to 2029, and the mutants/X-Men are wiped out.

This is probably why I always thought Logan needed to be its own universe. DoFP is, in many ways, the perfect send-off for Logan and the OG X-Men cast. They get the happy ending, everyone who died is alive, etc.

So 5 years after that, the perfect sendoff is for Patrick Stewart's Xavier to kill everyone and get stabbed through the chest by the clone of his protege? That's how this was all supposed to end? All the time travel shenanigans prevented the sentinels but only provided 6 years of peace before Cyclops dies again?

And on a more practical note, no mutants had been born in 25 years by 2029. So I feel like that's another thing that contradicts (albeit not directly) the post-DoFP / Deadpool / New Mutants world. If every mutant in 2029 is 25+, how are Negasonic or New Mutants even a thing, unless they are in fact the last mutants to ever be born?

Not that you can't have a birthday party with the people you love when a mutant hasn't been born in 20 years, but the only thing to hint or suggest that it's all gonna go to **** for every mutant on the planet, essentially, is Logan. So put Logan in an alternate universe, and let us keep our happy post-DoFP / Deadpool universe. And Logan's death being an anchor being problem is less about universe 10005 and more about Fox Studios' X-Men franchise quickly crumbling after Hugh Jackman signed off.

That's how my brain makes sense of it at least. But I guess more to the topic at hand………. two Logans in this explanation as well (post-DoFP happy Logan and D&W Logan). What a mess!

Went last night and the movie was great. Was my wife's first superhero movie since the first Iron Man - she laughed even with 90% of the jokes going over her head.

Saw this on 1/2 priced movie night in Missouri City. Easily the worst crowd I've ever experienced. Couple brought a 2 year old with them right behind us. Handed her an ipad to watch for the whole movie - which she ignored and talked through the whole movie. There were talkers all around us - but not about the movie. Kinda bummed that's what we came out talking about.

I would be enraged if I was your SIL. My brother has a stepson that age, that I adore...and it makes me mad even thinking about that.
