My wife and I watched it last night and loved it. I guess that's what Bad Santa does between the Holidays. That's what Billy Bob's character reminded me of lol.

My fav BBT scene so far was with the cop outside the hospital when the cop told the sherrif that "He has a mouth on him" and BBT replied, "It's your wife's favorite thing about me, besides my dick"

Can someone who has worked in the oil fields explain why they were using a metal hammer on a metal wrench vs a rubber mallet? To me that seems like a "duh" kind of thing especially when working around natural gas
I addressed that earlier. SOP is to use a brass hammer because they don't spark. Of course, there's not enough Hollywood drama in that.

AH I didn't see that, thanks for clarifying

I love the BBT in the show. Then I see him doing interviews as himself, the real BBT, he looks silly in real life. He and Johnny Depp must shop at the accessory store.

BBT is a complete assclown in real life. The good news is that he's really good at pretending to be other, better people.

Also, his character seems much more like a mob-style "fixer" than a real landman. Loved the first two episodes, probably because they were so wildly unrealistic and therefore more entertaining than real life.

I'd watch it just for the scenery…

Is animal style an actual thing at Whataburger? Or did TS get confused with In N Out?

I took that as intentional. She's so high maintenance that she asks the folks at whatabutger to do things off another restaurants menu. Dad comments that he could never get away with that *****

That definitely adds appeal. I'm not in O&G, but I'm sure many who are watch this show and laugh at how over-the-top it is like ranchers watching Yellowstone.

But the entertainment factor of this show hits well. It's not a carbon copy of Yellowstone or Tulsa King, but like those it blends genres in a refreshing way.

This show is begging for a re-writing of the lyrics to "Enter Sandman".

Billy Bob doing Billy Bob things.

SPOILER;

when the crew goes out to work on the pumpjack, why weren't they using a brass hammer? Brass hammers don't create sparks.

Because the show needed a spark?

"Hey Walt, can we build a road on that side over there so we can elbow around this **** ?"

"Over there where the dead body and drugs are? No."

"Ok well how about that side over there…is there any dead bodies or dope over there?"

"Haven't looked over there yet…"

"Well how about we ****ing go look there. Not any dead guys over here not any dope.
****....Walt, there's a dead sumbeesh over here."

Yeah I'm hooked on this. BBT was perfect for this role.

I laughed my as off at this scene. My husband had to pause it for a minute. I have a dark sense of humor.

That clown was married to Angelina Jolie in her prime.

Sheridan's next three series in the works, from a source I know that hangs with him up in Bosque county:

*A serial killer rodeo clown leaves a trail of bodies at NFR events scattered across the west.
*John Wesley Hardin series
*Galveston Hurricane of 1900. Deadliest natural disaster in American History.

Source: Trust me bro.

What about his Empire of the Summer Moon series?!!

It's kinda cool just to spot the local FW spots they film at. So far I've noticed:

- Petroleum Club
- Drover Hotel

Not related but sort of. If you watch Yellowstone, the speakeasy scene from this week was real. I've stayed at the Barfield hotel many times.

However, there were never as many cowboy hats in there as the scene in the show. Surprisingly… not.

The building they are using for the Patch cafe is also in FW. I know they filmed at River Crest Country Club too.

Anyone else figure out who the actor is that plays sheriff "Walt"?

Country artist Mark Collie. Been in some other movies, "The Punisher" is the only one I remember seeing him in. Comes into a diner carrying a guitar case, opens it up and sings a song, tells the Punisher that he wrote it for him.

His most popular song was "Even the man in the moon is crying".

I replayed it about 3 times. It reminds me a bit of the dark, country, humor between Val and Earl in the first Tremors movie.

I thought he looked familiar. He's not a bad actor either.

Years ago I was in a band that played that song and I was Born to Love You. He was getting fairly popular back then. /csb

I remember him as a bad guy/henchman in a Steven Seagal movie.

Speaking of country artists, this show is tailor made for a Dwight Yoakam appearance
