Jokes aside, those facehugger attacks are particularly violent.
They leaned way hard into that phase of the life cycle in this one.

Whoever designed the setpieces did a fantastic job. It captures the old school claustrophobic feel of the Nostromo, and borrows elements from Hadley's Hope with the dark red room.

Caught one scene where it looks like someone floating in zero gravity towards what looks like a spray of xeno acid blood.

Black dude has to be this film's Android problem.

We'll see on that chestburster scene. When it happened to Kane and others, it was suddenly extremely painful and violent. This one looked like "hey, what's that noise? My heart is beating kind of hard, let me look at this." Super creepy when you realize the sound in the trailer is leading up to and then see that.

That was amazing! I'm still banking on game inspiration from Alien Isolation there were other subtle nods from that game in this trailer.

But even if it's not related at all…..looks AWESOME!!!!!

It's only an original character to anyone that played the game or read that story. For movie watchers only, that's new territory.

Just got around to watching it. It's exactly what I wanted this to be.

Looks like a perfect mix of Alien, Aliens, and a generous dollop of Alien: Isolation vibes.

This will no doubt wash away the bad taste of Covenant.

Some beautiful space shots in there, too.

Covenant has aged the best of the two, IMO, and is pretty damn good on rewatch.

There are some really cool ideas/sequences in Prometheus, and some phenomenal imagery throughout.

But the asinine decision-making by the characters is just too much for me. It's so, so bad. The characters make certain decisions and things happen only because the plot needs them to, and so much of it makes no damn sense at all.

Also, the Guy Pierce old man makeup is horrendous, and beyond distracting.

Covenant isn't a masterpiece or anything, but IMO, the plot works better, the Engineers home world is cooler, and David going full-on villain is so much fun to watch.

There are some wonderful and hilarious analysis videos about prometheus on YouTube and it will really step your hatred of that movie up a notch, I know it did for me.

I felt like prometheus needed too much homework to fully appreciate. Plus the pacing was off. We get david finding the engineer, Holloway dying, the emergency c-section, finding weyland still alive in like 10 minutes without any time for any of those big events to fully digest for the audience and the characters

Plenty of valid criticism of Prometheus, but it's still a good movie.

I've never rewatched Covenant cause it was so forgettable.

Super pumped for this one but didn't even know it was coming until I stumbled on this thread a few weeks ago. Think I rambled about this on one of the Dune threads but Aliens was the first R movie mom took me to see. Looking at the release date I would have 10 at the time (That's Gen X, not Boomer for you Y and Z kids ).

I still vividly remember going to the new theater the Arboretum in Austin, whatever an Arboretum was. It was phenomenal. I'd never seen anything remotely close to that and certainly not on a big screen. And I've been hooked on this franchise since then. We rented Alien on tape a week or two later and while still good, the small CRT and tinny built-in speakers just couldn't recreate that big screen experience. Have since seen both Alien and Aliens on big screen numerous times and they are near the top of my favorite films.

I have no idea how I'd actually rank the films and hate choosing favorites of anything. I'll take the copout and just say there are 3 very clear groupings for me.

Alien and Aliens >>> Prometheus and Covenant >>> All the others

Aliens 3 is the only real borderline movie for me here. It's a low-end 2 or a high-end 3 and I've probably changed my mind a few times on where it really goes. Hoping we get another group 1 film here.
