Horizon is a grand, sprawling epic or the birth of America, told with elegance and spectacle of yesteryear Hollywood. It proves once again that Kevin Costner is a master of the genre. I would have watched Chapter 2 immediately afterwards. #Cannes2024 pic.twitter.com/5ki7gxYqM3

Kevin Costner’s #Horizon is… fine. It’s very much a “Part I”, opening with “Part I” in the title and closing with what’s effectively a “Next Time” trailer.

There’s a lot of set up here, to the point that the movie feels like an introduction to the ensemble rather than a story. pic.twitter.com/fZ6KzbK9U8
Couldn't agree more. A great American epic in a tradition I feared was gone from movie screens forever. Sweeping, audacious, and so enormous in scale it makes DANCES WITH WOLVES look like a mumblecore movie. Three of the fastest hours I've ever spent in a movie theatre. https://t.co/1Ewhyh7Xwf

I have seen Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 and am perplexed why this is being released as a movie and not a television series. This should count as a @OfficialTCA submission! My review from #Cannes https://t.co/AmRprWgZMb

Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 is an absorbing ride into the Old West from Kevin Costner

Kevin Costner says the amount of money he's personally spent on "Horizon" is $38 million.
— Variety (@Variety) May 20, 2024
“They say I’ve got $20 million of my own money in this movie. It’s not true. I’ve got now about $38 million in the film. That’s the truth. That’s the real number." https://t.co/d8xycyLlAm
Yeah I was already excited after the first one. This is gonna be a really fun summer for movies.Murder Hornet said:
Second trailer is even better than the first!
For me, other than Top Gun Maverick two summers ago which was enormous on its own...the two Horizon films, Twisters, Deadpool, and Beverly Hills Cop are the most excited I've been about a string of summer movies in a very long time. Definitely the nostalgia factor for me with all of them...so that's a big part of it.Cinco Ranch Aggie said:
Must disagree. The Horizon movies, Alien Romulus, and the Deadpool & Wolverine are all I find any appeal to.

I enjoyed Dances with Wolves in the theater when it was first released decades agoCinco Ranch Aggie said:
Can't wait.
I grew up watching westerns with my dad, lots of John Wayne, lots of Clint Eastwood, but was never really a fan of the genre until Dances With Wolves. When that movie ended, I was ready for 3 more hours. Then along came Unforgiven. That led to revisiting all those westerns I watched with my dad, and have been a fan ever since.
Costner left the biggest show on TV, left his wife, and used his home as collateral to make a series of films that’s half-funded so he could sign off a video with “see you at the movies.” Absolute legend https://t.co/ldspJFd4hB

Since @Horizonsaga got it's initial crap reviews at Cannes, there have been 9 more reviews added to @RottenTomatoes. 7 of 9 are positive and from reactions to press/industry screenings this week, that ratio will likely continue. This is going to end up fresh by release day. pic.twitter.com/VkFDVR6XwZ

why not just do a 10 part series on Netflix or HBO?
instead of risking people not coming out in sufficient numbers to the theaters during a heat wave?

I see your point but let's face it - there are a ton of lazy fat Americans who are not going to leave their houses when it is 100 degrees outside.

There's also a ton of Americans who would swim through miles of ball sweat to see Kevin Costner as a cowboy again
