How long do you want to ignore this user?
am I the only straight male in the USA who is not completely enamored with Emily Blount?

I mean of course she is attractive.

But in some movies she is barely attractive and far from being "beautiful" in a Hollywood leading lady manner.

I think it's great that John Krasinski married someone age appropriate who is intellectually sophisticated and a good person when he could have just gone the Leo DiCaprio route and dated hot Brazilians his whole life.

Some of the recent discussions have gotten me thinking, and I say this as a straight male...

Is Ryan Gosling as attractive to women and gay men as he seems to me?

Or is he just what men's idea of an attractive male is?

I don't disagree. She is of course attractive by every metric and I agree that she's a nice land for Big Tuna. But she's not and never has been the hottest thing in Hollywood. And that's totally fine. Her highlight was probably edge of tomorrow.

We watched some Anne Hathaway romantic movie today and my wife commented on how she's still beautiful. I've never thought she was all that but she debuted as a pretty young lady. Stayed pretty, kinda took a hit when she shaved her head (and made the two best movies of her career) and then maintained aging gracefully.

I'm sure both have had work done since the Devil Wears Prada.

None of this is a critique or "I could do better," just a comment on Hollywood in a sex sells world. Both seemingly lovely ladies.

Nope. Straight male here. Gosling s smokin hot.

I find Anne Hathaway a little hotter physically, but something about Emily Blunt's endless charm and charisma rockets her past Hathaway as an all around package.

Saw it last night. It was a blast and I enjoyed it very much. I thought it was maybe 10-15 too long but it was still a really fun movie to kick off the summer. The stunts were great in this as expected and the humor was funny as well. Loved all the mentions to other movies too. Gosling really is great at comedies.

It should be required on the internet to post the last woman you slept with before you can comment on how attractive any public figure is.

So does this movie have anything to do with the tv show? Same canon or completely isolated and separate?

well stated

have always loved Hathaway but she did go into her "I have to be anorexic Hollywood star" mode which I can't stand.

when she is a bit heavier and has a full figure is GOAT Hathaway. Get Smart was her at peak, in the WE WORK series she was way too thin.

Do this exercise. Look at a photo of Emily Blount. Next look at a photo of Thom Yorke. You'll never look at her the same again.

I really enjoyed this movie. The meta-ness was funny and the stunts were really cool.

Only gripe on the story: Why, when he's on the boat on the phone with Jody, does he not mention who really did it? Seems like something you'd bring up given the situation

Really fun movie. Cast was excellent and the meta stunt man stuff was really a treat. Several outstanding needle drops during the movie too.

Gosling is far far too handsome to be this funny.

Hollywood was much better with Harvey Weinstein doing the casting.

There are a lot of references to the original including the theme song, his GMC truck, his name, and even a cameo appearance from Lee Majors/Heather Thomas.

Wife and I just got out of the theater. It was a blast. My wife wasn't familiar with the tv show, so I explained what it was about and played the original tv show theme song/opening before we saw the movie. This is a great idea for anyone not familiar with the original tv show. There are plenty of references to the tv show which added to the movie.

This was probably the best experience at the theatre I've had in several years.

She's hot enough. She's not Gal Gadot or Margot Robbie (Natalie Portman or Diane Lane for the older crowd). But she's a great actress and hot enough to be considered a sexy lead role (more of a girl next door hot).

I would take my 13 year old to see it.

Some drug references and a few curse words. Nothing big and is pretty family friendly. Of course everyone has their own idea of age appropriate.

Saw it today with the wife. We both enjoyed it. Felt like one that people who make movies would enjoy because I'm guessing there were tons of in-jokes throughout.

Saw it this afternoon. Totally enjoyed it. I watched the TV show so I loved the references to the series. Forty years later and I still remember most of the words to the theme song. If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to stay through the end. There is a post credit scene.

I don't mean to be the lone party pooper, because it's definitely a fun movie, and I had a decent time overall. But it's waaaaay dumber and a lot more random than I was expecting too. It's also bloated as hell, weirdly paced, and almost ridiculously over-the-top at times. The latter of which being the point, one could argue, and I wouldn't push back, but some of the goofiness just wasn't for me.

With all the good buzz, I was disappointed it's having such a bad weekend, box-office-wise. I was really hoping the summer would kick off on a more positive note. But now? I totally get it, and $28M sounds about right. Despite all the charm Gosling and Blunt bring, this thing is pretty damn sloppy, doesn't feel quite worthy of the first-weekend-in-May slot, and would have been better-served back in March, when it was originally set to release.

If anything, I'm now really glad David Leitch had "creative differences" with Spielberg & co over the next Jurassic Park, and won't be directing that movie. As bad as that franchise has been at times, Leitch's sensibilities just aren't a good match at all.

That and the Phil Collins fight scene and all the snuck in movies lines were probably my favorite parts.

It's a really smart movie in a lot of ways, but like you said, clumsy/clunky in others. Was hoping it'd do better this weekend because it's exactly the type of movie I like best, even if not executed perfectly.
