I've barely been to any shows in Houston the last few years, bc I got messed up by Covid and also had a young child, but have a few coming up that look good:

September 9th at Heights Theater - DOMi and JD Beck (great modern jazz heavily influenced by hiphop, and the drummer is from Texas)

9/10 at upstairs at White Oak - Friko ( this band is an awesome indie rock band, Jim, i REALLY think you should really check them out)

12/9 in Sugar Land is Billy Strings - can't wait, last time i saw him was inside at White Oak several years ago.

How are they live? I've been trying to see them but haven't been able to make it work yet

Flatland Calvary is exciting to watch live. I have seen Flatland Calvary 3 times: Chilliest on 4/1/2022, Troubadour Festival in Bryan on 3/28/26, and at the Woodlands Pavilion on 7/18/26.

Got tickets to see the Guess Who in Sugar Land on Aug 8 at the Smart Financial Center.

First tour since Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman won the name back in a lawsuit. Don Felder is in the lineup as special guest.

Headed to Rhode Island for the Newport Folk Fest this weekend.

Susan Tedeschi had emergency appendix surgery last night and they've been yanked from the lineup. Wife is pretty bummed.

Yep., and they're coming to Houston in October.

There's a band named Deer Tick?

Is their manager Beer Baron?

I'm seeing The Mavericks (and Friends) tomorrow night here in St Louis. They started their new tour last weekend in Kansas City and reviews were outstanding. 2 new singers taking over lead vocals for Raul Malo (RIP El Maestro). Anyone on here attend either night in KC or going tomorrow?

Later this year, have tickets for Dwight Yoakum (November at the Ryman) and The Mavericks honoring Raul in December at the Ryman.

Saw Yoakum last year and Marcus King and Los Lonely Boys opened and the Lonely Boys played tribute to Malo. Was a great show.

This pisses me off.. why is Denver 1.5x-2x more than anywhere else? It's not sold out, face value lawn is $70, and resell is half that in nearly all other markets. And it's not like it's red rocks.
I was hoping to take my kids, and $30-$40 would be way more tempting.

Saw Noah Kahan in Atlanta Monday night. Best show I've been to in years. Liked it so much I think I'm going to catch him again tomorrow in Arlington.

Just got back from Noah Kahan. I give him big thumbs up. A pretty solid show... I give Globe Life a thumbs down as a convert venue. They absolutely were not prepared for a concert of this size. The pizza stand by me was running out of food before the opening act. The security guard in our section kept letting girls go up and stand in the front. You had to have a band in our section and none of them had them, so we know they didn't belong. I would have thought the security guard was trying to score with them, but he was old. I guess someone eventually got fed up and went and talked to a different guard, because a different guard finally came over and made them all leave. To top it off, after the show they didn't have anyone directing traffic, so it took an hour just to get out of lot, much less get down the road. It was pretty shocking that a baseball stadium that deals with crowds 81 nights a year was so ill prepared. Noah Kahan was awesome though.

Was privileged to see The Mavericks and Dwight Yoakum last year before Raul Malo passed. Very good double bill.

Just got back from seeing Marrty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives at Pueblo Memorial Hall in Colorado. Man those boys can pick and sing. They kicked every ass in the building.

There probably aren't many people that are on the fence of trying to decide which one of these to go to!

But I am in that group lol.

That was my very first show. Sugar Land will mark the 32nd and then Dickies after it will be the almighty number 33.

Pat Benatar and Bryan Adams last week. Modern English, English Beat, Wang Chung, and Howard Jones last night.

Pat Benatar still has INCREDIBLE pipes. Neil Giraldo is an underrated guitar player. Not a super engaging performance, but still sounded great and delivered. The Heartbreaker / Ring of Fire mashup is straight up money!

Bryan Adams started with an acoustic set off stage. Brilliant and sounded great. Hit after hit. Sing along after sing along. Great props and had the crowd engaged. Super impressed. This was my first time seeing him. Now I wish that weren't the case.

Modern English, English Beat, and Wang Chung all played abbreviated sets. Modern English rocked! I'll Melt With You is a masterpiece that holds up. English Beat was fun. Dave Wakeling is showing his age, but really enjoyed their set. Wang Chung? Wow! They were not my favorite back in the day, but what a fun, engaging set! And great shout out to the Clash! Should I Wang or Should I Chung? Brilliant!

Howard Jones was great. It makes sense, but what an incredible piano player! And an impressive showman. His songs are so uplifting and positive. Started out strong and wrapped up with Things Can Only Get Better. Really fun set and had the crowd engaged. So glad I finally got to see him play live!

Get out there and see some live music!

Was Nick Beggs still touring with him? I saw them together in 2024 and it was great show.

Not as cutting edge or eclectic as a lot of bands on here, but my wife and I saw The Guess Who last night in Sugarland. I'm an old Ag and these guys were in our wheelhouse in our early high school days. Of course, Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman are the only 2 originals playing, but they had a great band. Those 2 guys sounded good and played well. Played some BTO songs too. We've seen a lot of the old bands in the last 15 years or so, and this was about as good as we've seen.

Don Felder was a great opening act. Almost like a mini Eagles concert.

His backup electric players were Jedd Hughes (Nashville session artist) and Charlie Worsham (added to Grand Ole Opry this week). The amount of talent up there was ridiculous. You definitely get your money's worth at a Vince show.
