Saw the Romantics, Christopher Cross, and Toto last night at Germania and had a great time. I've always loved Christopher Cross. He was a bit frail (apparently he got messed up really bad from covid complications 6 years ago) but he still sounded really good.

I've also enjoyed Toto for a very long time but have apparently been living under a rock when it comes to all of their accomplishments and random items over the years. Had no idea that four of the original band members were all over the recording of "Thriller" and that Quincy Jones sought them out because they were all known as some of the best session musicians.

Didn't know the lead singer since 1987 who was also great last night is the son of legendary composer John Williams. He was also the singing voice of Simba in the Lion King.

And I also didn't realize how badass Steve Luthaker is on guitar. Their whole set was incredibly tight. Got a killer "Rosanna" second song in. And then of course "Hold the Line" as the second to last song. Then everyone joined on stage including Christopher Cross for an epic "Africa" finale.

The fact that Toto isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with over 40 million records sold but Missy Elliott is might be the biggest joke I've ever heard.

Foo with Queens of the Stone Age and Mannequin P**** in Chicago last night. FF played for 3 hours straight! Amazing show.

I was there, too! Not as close as you were, but I was there. Pretty epic show!

I thought really hard about going to the show. But an outdoor concert at that venue in August sounds like a special kind of hell.

On the plus side - picked up my ticket for Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival on Sunday, Sept 27. Super excited!

half off some axs shows.

of course, multiple fiddlers green shows in Aug, but not Muse, the one I want.

Yet muse was part of the $25 live nation summer sale.

I can't win with this show in Denver. Every market is like $30 right now on secondary, this city is $70+

Buddy of mine reminded me that we have Iron Maiden tickets next month, with Megadeth opening. Not my favorite venue in Charlotte, but I'm not mad at it.

Going to see them in San Antonio on 9/29, with Anthrax opening as well as Megadeth. A real treat this go round as Maiden traditionally has openers of no interest.

I've seen Maiden a couple times - they had Within Temptation (Dutch symphonic metal) and Hu (Mongolian throat singing metal). Both were okay, but Megadeth is definitely a step up.

I'll be at the Charlotte show, too. I'll be flying in Saturday morning. I have tickets for San Antonio but won't be able to make it.

It's a bit of a hike from Truliant, but if you're looking for a brunch/lunch spot in Charlotte that weekend, give Mal Pan Taqueria a look. I know, Mexican food on the East Coast, but it's pretty righteous. Housemade tortillas, and great tacos and burritos.

B/CS is actually getting something cool music related. And how fitting the album release date is on my birthday. /ohbilly.gif

ETA: I called Curious Collections today to find out when it is and the lady that answered told me the day and time but that they hadn't announced it yet or put it on their website. Now it's up. Tuesday at 6:

Ok it's real now.

Got my jsx flight Apa-den for effectively $109.
Just logged into southwest and realized I had 23k points left. Had no idea. So picked up a noon flight home to DEN. I'll just take the rail home since I'll be Uber from my house to APA, which is only about 15 minutes

My buddy/old neighbor bought his concert tickets and booked the hotel back when they went on sale without me involved. And now that I told him I'm going, he offered me the second bed so I'm sure I'll throw some money his way, but not including whatever tickets I buy to get into the show, I'm getting three night trip to Las Vegas for maybe a few hundred bucks including the jsx experience going there.

How much are your tickets at the Sphere? I don't think I've seen anything under $500.

some weekends are dipping down into $600 for the weekend. That particular weekend is still holding pretty steady (it's the second weekend). I think I've seen some $800s for section 400 which is what I want. I think you can get in maybe cheaper under the overhang in 100s but I'm not looking at those in my search.

Not as cutting edge or eclectic as a lot of bands on here, but my wife and I saw The Guess Who last night in Sugarland. I'm an old Ag and these guys were in our wheelhouse in our early high school days. Of course, Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman are the only 2 originals playing, but they had a great band. Those 2 guys sounded good and played well. Played some BTO songs too. We've seen a lot of the old bands in the last 15 years or so, and this was about as good as we've seen.

Don Felder was a great opening act. Almost like a mini Eagles concert.

My wife and I were there with you. A bit off to your left, judging by your pic! Good show, as you described!

a sphere show for under $500? That's not that crazy.

I mean wizard of oz starts at $100 and gets up to $300.
For a movie.

Having been to two concerts at the Spere (U2 and the Eagles) my take is that a Sphere show compared to a show at an arena or shed somewhere is like the difference between a Ferrari and a Toyota.

Nothing wrong with a good Toyota, but the Sphere has Ferrari equivalent sound and visuals. Whether that makes it worth the ticket price depends on you.

For bands I just like, not worth the drive or the price. If it's a band I love, maybe so. The U2 show in particular is probably the most stunning concert I've ever been to, in 48 or so years of attending concerts.

Foreigner and Lynyrd Skynyrd are playing around Texas this week. There is not one single original member of either band, but the music is still great. Skynyrd has the brother of the original singer, and he's been with the band since 1987.

I'm not crazy about tribute bandes, but but these guys have the DNA and some continous connection to the original bands.

Also, I saw Skynyrd a few years ago, and original members or not, they rocked, the music was great, and the crowd didn't seem to mind at all that it wasn't the 1977 version.

I'm probably going.

Billy Strings listening party was fun at Curious Collections tonight in Bryan. Made it through half the album before having to bail for other obligations. Sounded great.

Nice lady running the show that owns the place. Got a lot of swag sent to the store by the record label. Will go back on Friday to pick up the special Indie store vinyl release they already had there per my pre-order but couldn't release it to me yet. Label sent them nice little tote bags that they'll put them in on Friday.

Posted a story on my IG. Billy saw it and gave it a heart. Made my day. /ohbilly.gif

I will be there. Wish I were in the pit! I saw the information about that pop-up show, too. Folks on Reddit posted a couple of videos from it last night. I wish we were getting to see him in a 200-person-max venue, but oh well, it's going to be a hell of a show regardless!
