My father had a heart attack in 1955, at the age of 46, when I was 1 year old. There were 7 kids in the family, ranging from 13 to 1. If he hadn't survived, I don't know how my mother would have kept all of us together. He lived another 18 years, getting all of us at least into college, before his heart finally gave out. He was a man that fought as hard as he could "to keep the wolves away". February 9th will mark 50 years since he passed away. It was a long time ago, but it still hurts. This song just makes me tear up every single time I hear it.
This version of Gone Away by The Offspring played on the piano. I always knew what the song was about but this version came out right around when a friend of mine died. I love this band, this album, and this song but I can't listen to it anymore, it hurts too much.
