I decided to torture myself and listen through to all of the songs on this thread I hadn't heard before. I almost skipped this Post Malone ****, I assumed it wasn't gonna be my thing. That first song posted there though was surprisingly great. I just finished listening to a bunch of John Prine songs from up the thread, and I'll be damned if that Post Malone song couldn't have completely worked if played in John Prine's style.

I've always had a difficult time connecting with my dad, even though we shared the same interests and spent a lot of time together. He is being treated for prostate cancer and he's not out of the woods yet. The whole ordeal has really hit me hard. This is a newer song I discovered recently, and I just feel like it speaks directly to me. Also just a damn good song IMO.

Always a tough listen. He was one of my favorites.
"One Last Goodbye" by Anathema causes physical pain. Two brothers in the band wrote it about their mom's death from cancer and the lyrics nail - and partially resurrect - a lot of the thoughts and feelings one experiences after a crushing loss. Even the guitar solo has a wailing, plaintive tone.
