Nice. I'm really hoping for the success of Reeves' Batman universe.

I still think the first 1.5-2 hrs of The Batman is peak cinema.

Just started a dedicated thread for The Penguin...

https://texags.com/forums/13/topics/3488989/

We'll reserve this one for all other The Batman movie-universe talk, The Batman Part II, news of any other potential series, etc.

Sounds like the story for The Batman Part II will start / at least partially take place during Christmas/winter, which I absolutely love...

Very reminiscent of Batman Returns...

It would certainly be a choice, but I also admittedly kind of love this idea...

So....I rewatched The Batman last night. I recall criticizing this movie on my first watch when this movie came out.

I'm not sure what changed or what I didn't like but this movie was totally badass. Maybe i was drunk the first time I watched it?

All I know is that I want to see the sequel ASAP. And I will now be watching The Penguin.

One thing I caught on this watch that I didn't catch originally is that the scared black kid with the train platform gang in beginning is same kid that ended up playing Robin on the Teen Titans show. I guess that was just a fun Easter egg and salute to Teen Titans? Were they originally in same universe?

Also, what's with the John Travolta Joker at the end?

The Robin thing was just a coincidence, not meant to foreshadow anything. Just happened to be the same actor.

Sounds like more spinoff series are in our future, and this may be one of them...

To be clear, though, I doubt we get another spin-off series before The Batman Part II. The next series or two will instead likely bridge the gap between The Batman Part II and Part III.

There was a billboard for that Batman at Kirby and North Braeswood in Houston for 2 years before the movie and like 10 years after.

It still bugs me that there was no Thursday, October 31st in 2022, the year the movie officially takes place. They should have just set it in 2024...

No idea how accurate this is - I've never heard of the Marvelvision podcast - but something like this sounds plausible enough, considering Reeves has confirmed, on the heels of The Penguin's success, that there are multiple series in the works set in this universe...

If true, I guess you could do this series in one of three ways...

1) The backstory of how the Joker came to be, and then also how Batman ultimately imprisoned him prior to the events of The Batman (which would of course require Pattinson to appear in at least a few episodes).

2) Takes place after The Batman Part II, and like The Penguin, bridges the story gap of the Joker between Part II and Part III, setting up the Joker's final showdown with Batman in Part III.

3) A combination of 1 and 2, telling both stories, cutting back and forth through time (my personal preference).

And to be clear, whichever version they were to potentially go with, it would all be based on the Joker only having a cameo/limited role in Part II, which is the current rumor.

Before The Penguin: "Eh, we've seen enough iterations of Joker, Folie A Deux sucked , and we have more than enough superhero TV series."

After The Penguin: "Inject it in my veins."

I had no idea that Devin is behind the Marvelvision podcast, and he's as trustworthy as they come, never mind Jeff Sneider confirming the story as well (below). In other words, this is indeed a very real thing...

Quote:

Joker: Barry a Deux - I can confirm that Matt Reeves has big plans for Barry Keoghan's Joker, who was glimpsed behind bars at the end of The Batman. According to Devin Faraci's Marvelvision podcast, Keoghan will star in his own TV series that will be positioned between The Batman Part II and The Batman Part III, in which he'll appear as the main villain. It certainly makes sense that Reeves would build up to the Joker, and tease him out slowly. The series will serve as a bridge between Batman sequels, just as The Penguin serves as a bridge between the first film and Reeves' upcoming sequel, which will begin filming next year. It's unclear whether the Joker series is being developed for HBO or Max, not that there's a huge difference these days since no one is watching on linear cable anyway. The real question is whether Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman will get her own series somewhere along the line. That character seems like a safer bet, as I think everyone is a little Joker-ed out these days, but what do I know? Keoghan is once again expected to pop up briefly in The Batman Part II, which would leave him plenty of time to shoot Sam Mendes' Beatles movies next year.

Will be interesting to see where Harvey Dent/Two Face lands with this latest update on the Joker series. A Joker back story would be incredible.

Bringing the Joker into The Batman universe is definitely high risk. You will always have to deal with comparisons to Heath ledger the moment you bring in the Joker.

With such a great assortment of other villains to pull from, I hope they don't pull a Jared Leto and sink the franchise. I would much rather stick with this whole mysterious gotham corruption thing, and go Court of Owls.

I would also LOVE a Mr Freeze who is much closer to the Animated Series.

The Batman 2022 - Riddler, Penguin
Penguin 2024
The Batman II 2026 - Court of Owls, Mr. Freeze
Joker 2027
Harvey Dent 2028
Catwoman 2029
The Batman III 2030 - Joker, Harvey Dent conversion?

Something along these lines sounds about right.

A couple notes, though...

- There are rumors that Harvey Dent will appear in The Batman Part II. With DA Colson (Peter Sarsgaard) dead, there's now a vacancy in that position, which is the perfect opportunity to introduce Dent.

- I'm hoping it's not four years between Part II and Part III. Without the strikes it would have only been three years between the first and second movies, so fingers crossed for 2029 instead.

Either way, by the time the Joker series hits, it'll somehow have been 19/20 YEARS since Ledger's Joker, which is more than enough time for a new actor to make the role his own.

I think an entire movie and/or series with just Dent (and no Two Face) is essential for viewers to really feel the pain of his transformation.
TCTTS

The issue is, the shows of course need to develop the plot/characters, but not so much that someone who only watches the movies can't keep up. In other words, it's highly unlikely that Dent would turn between movies, during a series.

There's loose talk of a Dent-focused legal series, and if that comes to fruition, my guess is they would introduce Dent in the next movie, give him a legal series set between Part II and Part III, and then turn him into Two-Face in Part III. That said, you're then running the risk of Part III potentially feeling too similar to The Dark Knight, with the Joker as the main villain and Dent going full Two-Face, all in the same movie.

So, yeah, it's a challenge either way and I don't know what they do...

Meaningless. Could just mean the studio isn't ready to announce yet.

Yeah, I obviously trust Gunn's word… for now… but when two highly credible reporters are independently saying the same thing, where there's smoke there's usually fire. I mean, we know multiple series are in development, and I find it hard to believe that they haven't even discussed giving Joker his own. Time will tell…
