Yeah, as I said I thought it was great.
This show is never about wrapping up storylines, or neat endings, in fact it's purposely the opposite of that.
If you want to really understand the show, always think of it in terms of "a subversive look at a day in the life of a white (usually privileged) self important person ", and you will be most of the way there. It's nothing more than a deep dive look into that, which makes it awesome.

Really enjoyed this entire season and thought the finale was generally very well done. One thing I felt was lacking was some kind of confrontation between Tanya and Greg. I know it would have been difficult to pull off given the circumstances but that still feels like a bit of a miss.
I had that thought, as well. Like one of the last scenes could've been a shot of Greg with a disguise on, watching the police take away the bodies wide-eyed wondering how it got screwed up. This makes me think we will certainly see Greg in Season 3.

Was Jack supposed to kill Portia and he showed mercy/guilt and let her go? Or just distract her until Tanya was taken care of?

No, I don't think he was supposed to kill her, but he was certainly smart to advise her to stay away (even though everyone ended up dead and she wouldn't have been in any trouble).

I think his "job" was just to keep her busy for one more day. He basically spilled the beans to her about it being his job which seemed unintentional and something I don't think happens if his job was to kill her

I think Portia would realistically be killed too. They wouldn't leave a loose end like that.

Possibly, but it's a double-edged sword. 2 bodies likely brings even more suspicion, especially if done separately. All sorts of witnesses saw Tanya and Portia with these people, so they can't really hide from it. They needed to isolate and a good story. Drunk lady (also with coke in her system) fell off the boat on the way back to shore or something along those lines, whatever

Her story was another purposefully vague result. We will never know if they were really going to kill her, kidnap her and hold her for ransom, or just have him hook up with her again and have Greg walk into the hotel room. But if they kept Portia away. We know they were up to no good.
Again, in the end it didn't matter because the point of her story was the crazy way she died and that she was being used. Which was her theme all along - Greg, the spa woman etc.

It brings into question whether she was a mark the entire time, and I think she probably was.
I think she was a mark since season 1 with Greg conveniently next door to her

So season 3 is Greg off to a White Lotus property in Asia, spending his newly inherited money?! And Connie Britton (confirmed for season 3) the author, starts to put the pieces of the long con together?? I'm in.

Yes, given the seemingly elaborate con and setup in Sicily, it seems like it had to be. BLM Greg, yocal from colorado, wouldn't know folks like this and after marrying her go "hey, you know, I've lost interest and now just want the money, maybe my sketchy powerful friends in Sicily would be great to make sure I get her money". Screams being one big long con and who knows what Greg's history really is

I think Greg gets busted and doesn't get the inheritance. Tanya and the guys on the yacht all showing up dead the same morning will prompt investigators to wonder if they're related. Then you have lots of witnesses who saw Tanya hanging out with the dead guys (at the hotel, at the opera, at the party). You have 4 living conspirators (the one who stayed at the house, the one who jumped in the water, the yacht captain, and Jack) who could start talking. There is the photo of Quentin and Greg together. Greg has the clearest motive as he was set to inherit the $500MM. They'll check electronic records and dig into Quentin and Greg's history together in the US. Portia may talk. There's no way Greg gets away with it.

I'm starting to wonder if he was ever even in BLM.

Sicily didn't do much for me in terms of creating a vacation itch.

Maldives definitely would.

Also, I will admit to laughing out loud when she went in the water.

I think the biggest crime on this show hasn't been committed yet. Portia has been wearing the same clothes for 3 days and is about to get on a cross-Atlantic flight sitting near some poor souls

Plus Portia knows the broad strokes of the entire ruse. In addition to the plethora of evidence they have, all the authorities have to do is interview her, then connect the dots of her story. Either way, agreed that there's no way Greg gets away with it.

Portia is weak though. And Jack's warning put a scare into her. She may be scared ****less to say boo, especially with Tanya dead
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah Portia's personality type in that situation would be "just get me the **** out of here and away from these people as fast as possible, also I'm scared ****less now that I've seen the manipulation and crime and influence money can draw in an unknown region." She'd probably also take more credence to Tanya's words about reminding her of a young Tanya.

She'd move to Topeka, give up any active interest in living life with purpose and never trust men or anyone except her 3 cats and best friend who lives in the apartment above her.

Or… she moves to LA, marries Albie, and her successful producer father-in-law then produces a hit limited series based on their collective experience in Italy called "The White Lotus." While doing research, the screenwriter discovers a murder the year prior at The White Lotus Hawaii, and they follow with a hit second season set at the Hawaii resort. Both seasons win all the Emmys, and everyone lives happily ever after.

I liked the scene at the airport where Albie, the dad and the grandfather all turned and watched the pretty girl walk past.

Great season!

What happened to the gun? I'm sure they could pull prints off that and figure out Tanya went on a rampage after that door was kicked in. Any decent investigator should be able to piece the story together.

Really loved the entire season.

What I don't understand is why in some cases White takes you right up to edge and then doesn't tell you what happened. Why not tell us if Harper and Cam got together or what happened with Daphne on the island.

Obviously it is heavily inferred in both cases. But why leave it open ended. Using the same tactics you could have just left Tanya falling overboard and then not told us she drowned.
because life doesn't wrap up all loose ends either.. Some things have to be inferred and move on/deal with it..

Lol! Yeah when I saw that I almost didn't post it because it seemed spoiler esque, but then I thought it was more of a red herring and she wouldn't be the one to die. But I'm really happy with the way it ended and that all the hints and Easter eggs leading up to it ended up being true.

Just finished a rewatch and got-damn this show is good. The part at the end when Cameron and Daphne see Ethan and Harper at dinner and go sit at their table is sooooo freaking juicy. I'm squirming on my couch and cringing at the INSANE absurdity that these people would still carry on like friends. Like, S1 was really good but S2 was masterclass storytelling. Mike White better clean up all the awards cuz this show was brilliant. And if nothing else, storytelling, at its core, is supposed to a) entertain and b) make you feel things; this season delivered both in spades.

After rewatching the finale I can't help but think this might be one of the singularly best seasons of TV ever made.
