My wife (who is not a Community fan) could not figure out why I was laughing so hard when Britta showed up in Ep. 6.
i honestly had a similar initial reaction...but if you think back to where he was in fishes, he was trying to get out of The Beef and be a part of something else. if you believe (like carmie did) that richie had all the pieces to be really good at it, then i could see things turning around pretty quickly for him once he got out of the way and let it happen.Ervin Burrell said:
Forks was great (not as good as Fishes IMO)...my only (minor) beef with it is that IIRC Richie was only there for a week...and we're supposed to believe on Monday/Tuesday he's disgruntled and polishing forks, and by Friday he's this savant who is chumming it up with the entire staff. Just seemed like too tight of a turnaround...just a nitpick.

This show nails the little and big ways that grief can sneak up on you out of nowhere, and how everyone has to find out how they relate to each other and themselves when a black hole has opened in the middle of their solar system.
We just binged both seasons over the last week and Forks was genuinely one of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen.

Sorry for a page two comment, but my wife and I just binge watched season one yesterday. Like a good book, we couldn't put it down.
If you recall in an early episode he started opening a can and threw it in the trash. How much $ was in that can? They also left one can on the floor in the finale.
I'd think you'd not miss a can on the floor!
Loving this show so far. We will start season two tonight.
I love to cook for family and friends and this show reinforces why I would never want to cook for money.

Finished Season 2 last night. What a fantastic show. I wish I had watched season 1 when it came out, but I was stubborn and didn't think it would be for me. As others have said the 2nd half of this season (7 Fishes through finale) were just really perfect TV.
The only character I didn't love was Syd. I feel like she shows she's a great cook, but she doesn't ever really grow in terms of leadership or becoming a head chef.
That's very optimistic for season 3 with all of hollywood on strike.Gilligan said:

Carmy getting trapped in the walk-in was brilliant as it not only created a claustrophobic air to go along with e extreme stress, but also was indicative of Carmys life in general. He's always been trapped.
Who says Carmy and Claire are broken up? Seemed like a a fight and possible misunderstanding as he didn't know he was talking to her. He was a bit out of his head at the time. I don't believe it trumps the fantastic moments they had together. And I'm a hopeless romantic: they stay together. Fight me.

Oh I don't blame him at all. My anger is solely with the mom. She manipulated the hell out of him like she did all her kids. And as he saw her walking away with seemingly no guilt, he realized that.
We're just now getting into this, seen all of Season 1. But we're getting commercials now for some reason. And sometimes they're dropped in weird places that interrupt scenes.TCTTS said:
Once you realize they haven't cut, it immediately hits you that they're not going to cut, given the 20-minute runtime of the episode, and you're just in awe from then out. It's also one of the few times the one-take thing actually feels 100% organic to an episode, and isn't just a show-off thing, because in the same way you're wondering how an actor isn't going to bungle their lines and screw the whole thing up, you're *also* wondering how a chef isn't going to bungle a task and screw the whole thing up. It's so perfect, so impressive, and so incredibly well done.
