From this article:
https://collider.com/the-bear-season-2-berzatto-family-tree-explained/

Quote:

Perhaps the most despicable person we meet in Season 2, Lee Lane (Bob Odenkirk) is also not a blood relative of the Berzattos but is seen as part of the family as an on-again off-again boyfriend of Donna's. He's the kind of person who likes to feel superior by talking down to people and stealing their thunder when they're having fun. This is what leads to his big fight with Mikey at the Christmas table, repeatedly saying he's "nothing" and talking about his substance abuse. What's worse, he kept Mikey close after five years, because he's identified as one of the people who loaned Mikey part of the money Carmy finds in the tomato cans at the end of Season 1 with the inscription "KBL". As Cicero explains in Episode 1 of Season 2: "Kalinowski, me. Berzatto, you. Lane, Lee."

I didn't think he was despicable at all. He was just the only person to call Mikey on his toxic BS.

The one scene i didn't understand from S2, was during the 'bachelor party' at The Beef. When Richie and Carmen go in to try to break up the fight that's happening and Richie punches a guy unconscious....why was he ever under arrest? That was clearly self defense, right? As the non-aggressor who didn't throw the first punch, i dont see how any cop in america arrests Richie for a drunk guy fighting in HIS restaurant.

lol i know it's random, but it irked me how the show tried to make it seem like 'aggravated assault' or 'manslaughter' were the only 2 outcomes.

agree! thought the same thing. also im pretty sure youre able to reprimand someone who is breaking sh** in your business. Wasnt the guy trashing the place?

Every bar fight I have seen that ends with cops always had both parties arrested.

100%!!! Richie and Carmen were seperating the 2 parties when Carmen(?) took a right hook to the face and Richie then knocked that guy out! Like, Richie was clearly protecting his friend and restaurant.

If it's amongst the patrons sure, but I've seen bouncers tune up an unruly drunk person and the cops basically shake their hands. Richie is sober and an employee of the bar that he was attempting to stop a literal BRAWL.

yep. no way he gets arrested for that

shoulda been arrested for shooting a gun in the air for no reason earlier in the show if anything lol

You almost kill a guy you are going to jail. Especially since there is a clear "class" distinction between Richie and the guys who were fighting.

Even if i granted you that (which I still disagree with), there's 0 shot 'manslaughter' is on the table for what is an open and shut self defense situation. A dozen witnesses to corroborate who was the aggressor, blood alcohol test to show Richie was sober while the other dude was drunk, etc. It was just ridiculous to me that 'aggravated assault' was the default outcome and pissed me off on behalf of Richie haha.

Why was Sydney throwing up after dinner service at the end of the last episode? It seemed like it started after she took a drink of something in the kitchen. It was it just from nerves or something?

Loved the show.

i took it to be nerves with all the craziness going on

Ok, that's what I figured. But it seemed weird she would throw up after and not before or during the service. And given that it was after she seemed to take a drink, I was wondering if the employee who got fired for smoking crack in the alley accidentally put drugs in her drink or something. But that would be far-fetched.

So I assumed it was likely meant to just be nerves.

The only thing that sucks about this sequence is that I'm afraid I'm going to be the chasing the high I felt in this moment for years to come. At the risk of hyperbole, the more time has passed, the more it's become one of my favorite moments from any series or movie ever…

just finished the binge and can't get this show out of my head. Then I blasted through this thread and got my validation that I'm not alone. All time great show.

I remember Chris and Andy freaking out on the Watch on how great it was so I knew it would be good and was saving up for the right time - hilarious to hear the Bear and The Idol talk on the same watch pod. CR compared Bernthal showing up in episode 6 to how Star Wars fans felt when Vader showed up in Rogue One.

Just finished the last six episodes of Season 2, this past week. As great as this show was, I had to pause after the "Fishes" episode. Some of the best acting I have seen, ever but damn I felt like I needed a visit to the therapist.. And then to bring mom back in the last episode, it was just perfect.

Richie's character progression in this show is incredible. From the least likable character on the show to (arguably) the most likable.

Also...cannot forget to complement the soundtrack for the series. That whole moment where Sydney tells Richie to drive, and then they roll immediately into Pearl Jam's "Animal", My wife just about jumped off the couch with excitement! Crazy, crazy good choices..

Absurdly good show. Don't have the words to describe the near perfection that this show has been so far.
