I had similar feelings. I think the 30 minute episodes and somewhat lighter subject matter just make it easier to watch.

Finally finished season 2 so I can exhale and catch up on this thread. I love this show.

30 minute episodes.

I'll admit I was pretty skeptical about season 2 since season 1 was just flat out flawless, but this was incredible.

As someone who lost an older brother in a similar fashion, this show really nails the grief waves that come and the family dynamics afterwards.

Wife and I finished the season last night...that Fishes episode was one of the most fun (and tense) rides I've had watching television. JLC crushed her role, and seeing all the other guest stars all together just made for an incredible episode...being over an hour didn't hurt either.

What was the significance of the chocolate covered banana Richie gave Cicero for dessert at the soft open?

It was in the fishes flashback episode. Richie's wife was pregnant and only had a banana at the table. He told her about how him and his dad used to also go by the chocolate banana stand when he was a kid.

Finished the season late last night and, somehow, I think it really does eclipse the final season of Succession as the best of the year for me. I wasn't prepared for how cliffhangery the finale felt, as who knows how long it'll be until we get a third season, or where it'll even go from here, but it was still amazing, and so damn emotional in all the best (and most devastating) ways. Just an incredible effort all around.

Btw, if we're going by the one week thing, spoilers are now fair game. So no more spoiler tags from here on out...

It exceeded my high expectations. I can't get enough of this show.

I love the cliffhangers at the end.

Might be my favorite show on TV. Ted Lasso ending in 3 seasons going out on top. Makes me want bear to do the Same. It's just so damn good.

Marcus episode was favorite episode. Could watch a spin-off of him and Will all by itself.

That Fishes episode was definitely triggering for those of us who grew up with a borderline mother. Her playing the martyr and refusing all help, but then *****ing and moaning about how no one helped her. The way she flipped her emotions so drastically from one second to the next. The guilt she piles on Carmy. How she belittles Sugar. I lived through so much if that. But my mom was the more silent, but deadly, passive aggressive type. Their mom went from Waif, to Queen, to Witch so easily.

Overall I'd give Season 2 a 9 out of 10. The only part that didn't really land for me was all the Coach K allusions.

For a show that releases all 10 episodes at one time I think the spoilers should last a bit longer vs a show that only rolls out every week? If you burn through an episode a day that's still 10 days minimum.

i dont mind her. but like...it's kind of her own fault that things ended the way that they did.

carmy gave her the wrong number for a reason yet she pursued.

she knew this was his life. he knew this had to be his life.

like i feel bad that they broke up but i dont feel bad that they broke up if that makes sense. it seems like it was inevitable

also help me god i really hope syd and carmy dont get together. i think it's ok to have a deep kinship between male/female characters without wonder whethere they're gonna end up in bed together.

If Carmey and Sydney get together it would ruin the entire show for me. All the good would be thrown out

It's a public message board. The very nature of posting a positive reaction here "aggrandizes" it. Fishes is getting all the attention for good reason!
But for me Forks was the best episode of the series for me! Richie killed it, the needle drops and how that restaurant operates and what Richie learned during 1 week summer camp.

Incredible episode.

Loved the evolution of Richie. Really didn't care much for him the first season (he had some entertaining moments, but overall he grated on me). Really liked the character he became. Thought it was cool the way they portrayed his growth as well, with him able to get up progressively earlier every day, etc.
