Enjoyed the first episode. It feels like a modern-day The Next Generation. Each episode is self contained. It has an optimistic tone and reminds me of the original and TNG, rather than some of the more recent series.

Yep. Discovery had some memorable parts, but overall didn't really feel like Star Trek, and the last season was a disaster.

Picard was alright, but only because of Picard himself.

Hopefully SNW seems to be on the right track.

I liked most of the first episode. But the acting seems a bit off. Maybe they'll grow into it and get better?

Really, really liked it. Nice blend of humor and drama.

The original Star Trek was one of the most political shows on TV. It was just hidden in alien story lines, but they did episodes on the pointlessness of racism,, hippies; the futility of war, environmentalism, among other things. Heck they had the first interracial kiss ever on TV, so politically provocative the episode wasn't even shown in much of the south. .

In fact, that was why I hated the "reboot" - and I put it in parenthesis because it was a garbage cash grab that didn't honor the original show and took all that out to makeit a popcorn franchise. Agree with the message or not, that wasn't what star trek was originally.

I enjoyed the first episode. It's got potential. We'll see.

Supposedly it'll be more episodic as opposed to serialized, which is oddly refreshing, as well as a throwback to Trek of old.

The different time-lines/universes can get a bit confusing, but really anything Star Trek is awesome.

It's kinda the same thing. LBGTQABC+ will assimilate us all. You're either a Borg or a Borg ally, or you will be destroyed. Resistance is futile.

Pike etc., pretty cool.

Casting not godawful. Spock with a dead rat on his head was mildly distracting. Uhura gone from cool elegant officer to dorky clueless millenial. The rest were ok.

The woke garbage wasnt too bad really, other than showing maga hats depicting ww3, lol.

But the pacing, editing, storyline, development, etc., was just indicative of a total lack of talent.

It was hamhanded.

Hope it gets better. Star trek was one of the all time best universes, but other than about 1/2 of tos, maybe 2 movies, a few episodes here and there of all the other content, its all been absolute garbage.

There is that one episode of Short Treks where H. Jon Benjamin genetically engineers tribbles for food. It's worth a watch.

Just watched episode one. Liked it!

I really enjoyed the first episode. Pike seems very likable as does the new Spock. The subtle woke addins (Ortegas, Jan 6th mention, etc) are not too in your face.

I think the thing I loved the most is the intro. VERY Classic Trek

Episode 2 was really good IMO. Cast has really good chemistry and the show was a lot more suspenseful then I thought it would be going in. I'm in for the long haul. Pike is a badass.

Now I just have to see what all I can get on this paramount channel and what I need to cancel.

it was absolutely utopian but in a good way.

i agreed with having heroes of all skin colors, etc., and that was fine. uhura was an elegant badass for instance.

sure 20 years after ww2 having a japanese helmsman, in the cold war having a russian navigator, etc., were all pushing some boundaries.

but it was still a meritocracy.

'woke' is ensuring that the most defective freaks with the least morals, ethics, and talent are glorified because of what they like to ****, and competence is punished.

Have to agree episode 2 was pretty good and very reminiscent of tos, which is a good thing.

Still a few things I wish were a bit different but certainly promising if you like trek.

Will, at least the data suggest this.

I kinda recall a plot point in TNG that Ensign Ro was sort of a Bajoran affirmative action hire.

In the end, TNG was a story about solving problems via efficient committee meetings via inclusive and/but capable bureaucrats.

Good to see SNW going in the same direction.

Watched the first two episodes since people seem to be enjoying it. First episode was a little heavy handed but i really liked the second one, but i have a question.

What exactly did spock do? he was radiating heat somehow?
