It's surprising that there's been zero Gene scenes thus far in the season, but I can only assume that the last couple of episodes will feature heavily in Omaha timeline, if not entirely.

Only question is if they hold off on Gene scenes entirely until the show reaches that point.

If orginally meant to be 13 consecutive episodes, I'm starting to think that the first ten episodes (a traditional season) - meaning the next three as well - are all part of one story (the 2004 BCS/Kim arc), and that the final three could then be the Gene endgame potentially?

Then again, we still have to see Walt and Jesse, presumably in 2008, which means I really have no clue what the structure's going to be.

i think if he knew kim was murdered, the gene reminiscing scenes would be more emotional. i think she makes it, somehow, but ditches him.

Random thoughts triggered by posts above:

What happens to Kim? Dead or vacuum guy'd are the top options being discussed today but let's not forget something we mentioned in prior weeks - jail is a possibility. Could there be a specific reason the writers had Howard lay out his Jimmy theories to Cliff Main? Cliff seemed somewhat receptive to the accusations, although he knew he didn't matter since the damage had been done. So we have Howard telling Cliff that Jimmy (Jimmy only though, not Kim) was behind it all, then Howard dies that night. Will they get rid of the body or say it was a suicide in their apartment? If it becomes known Howard died that night, especially if known he died in their apartment, it may lead to legal issues for Kim? It's probably more likely that they get rid of the body and Howard becomes a missing person. But surveillance cameras, cell phone pings (was that a thing back then), might still lead them to Jimmy and Kim's.

The Gene Takovic timeline, what is happening there? People are guessing a possible reunion with Kim, or visit to Kim's grave. But the last thing we saw Jimmy/Gene do in that timeline was get threatened, call the vacuum guy, and then angrily say "I'll handle it". So that could mean he's going to put himself in harm's way and openly confront an individual or group of individuals. And then we have to again ask ourselves - what end do these writers think is fitting for Jimmy? Jimmy has caused a lot of harm to people when only focusing on goals for himself, he got involved with the cartel even though it was forced and in despite of his reluctance, he's a monkey with a machine gun in the legal profession - does he deserve a life with Kim (they really aren't good for each other even though there is love there)? Does he deserve full freedom? I think I will have a better feel for what's in store for Jimmy after I see what fate the writer's bestow upon Kim. But it may be similar to Walt's.

If Kim ends up in jail that'll be my biggest (and maybe only) major victory when it comes to predicting this show.

One of the things I find interesting in watching these past few episodes is how I (and apparently several others in this thread) seem willing to place most of the blame on Jimmy for what ultimately happened to Howard.

As the pieces fall into place that should fall squarely on Kim's shoulders. Jimmy was content to screw with Howard in an almost adultescent fashion (throwing a bowling ball through his car window). Kim on the other hand seems more offended by the manner in which Howard disrespected her "man" and can't let it go. She is hellbent on breaking Howard both professionally and personally. She continued to press Jimmy for what they should do next, while Jimmy, at least initially, seemed to be dismissive about the idea.

Even to the point that Jimmy realized that their plan is FUBAR when he sees the judge/arbitrator has a broken arm, rendering all their planning and plotting moot. Jimmy was willing and accepting the fact that, at the very least, they had to regroup and try something different at a later date.

Kim was having none of that.

She's the original ride or die chick...

Again, a Jimmy/Kim reunion in Nebraska doesn't have to mean happily ever after. If they go that route, I think the reunion is fleeting and bittersweet, and has more of a sad, what-could-have-been vibe. That to me feels like the most appropriate ending. They see each other again, but only briefly, and it's more of a passing acknowledgment of regret of sorts; the two of them essentially admitting to each other and to themselves that none of it was worth ruining what they had in each other.

I've missed something in Kim using the vacuum man to leave town.

I know she saw the vacuum cleaner man's card, but how would she know he's the ticket out of town?

How did they swap the pictures back in Howard's office?
What kind of drug is absorbed through the skin that works that quickly and has that large of an impact?

if that's the way it ends up going...she doesn't know it yet.

the vacuum guy's name will be in the little black book. Maybe they'll call Dr. Caldera to get help having someone clean up/disappear Howard.

What is left in ABQ for him? Money stashed somewhere? DEA would have been all over his office, they were liquidating his house. Walt gone, Jesse gone, Skinheads gone. His other interests maybe outside of BB but everything should have been seized.

Walt had a reason to go back, the only reason would be Kim, but that's going to be one hell of an escape away from the Howard mess that she had to live with for years.

The thing that turned my feelings toward Kim and Jimmy, once their plan started being revealed, was that they hurt the residents of Sandpiper in order to exact their revenge on Howard. Prior to this, at least as best I can recall, their "pranks" were at worst dishing out well-deserved (or at least justifiable) comeuppance. In this one, not only did Howard not deserve the level of ruin they were foisting on him, but the secondary victims were Jimmy's own (former/referred) clients. All for them to have a laugh and "get off."

This is the first time I really couldn't bring myself to like Jimmy/Saul. I came close a couple of times when he was effing with Chuck, but Chuck kept giving reasons to justify/excuse Jimmy (at least for me, fully admitting i was previously inclined TO justify/excuse him.)

DMSO absorbs through the skin very rapidly and can bring a "payload" along with it. Back in the anti-war protests in the '60s, the hippies supposedly put DMSO laced with LSD in squirt bottles and sprayed it at cops.

Maybe so, but they could have gotten a better settlement out of the mediation even if they wanted it fast. After Howard's apparent blow-up, Schweikart and team had the clear upper hand and reverted to their PREVIOUS offer. Jimmy and Kim hurt the Sandpiper residents whichever way you slice it.

They haven't delved into it much - I believe the first reference to it is when they showed Howard visiting a therapist a few episodes back in which he discusses some marriage problems. Then, in the cold open last episode with the coffee, they showed him getting ready for work in the guest house then walking to the main house's kitchen. And then of course he brought it up in his spiel to Kim and Jimmy right before getting shot.
