Another classic slow burn episode prepping for the big pay-off next episode. I did think it was funny that Kim says "this happens today" right as the show ends. Should be a good week of discussion on the thread.

  • How does the cast on the mediator ruin Kim and Jimmy's D-day plan?
  • What did the vet give Jimmy and how are they going to use it in the D-day plan? Drug Howard to make his eyes dilate and act all coked up?
  • What are the writers telegraphing for Kim's end game with her flashback at the department store?

I'm just not a fan at how the pacing has changed.

Like all of a sudden they realized it's gonna wrap up earlier than expected and now they're trying to stretch it out.

They're still good episodes but the pacing and feel just seems different.

BCS (and to a lesser extent BB) have always been drawn out series'.

Not sure I understand this critique.

This feels slower than usual.

BCS takes its time, but even for being slow, it moves much faster than The Wire did.

The Seehorn and Esposito directed episodes have been painfully slow

Are they trying to make Howard thinking Saul is bribing the mediator? He took out $20K or so and they had pics of him with the fake mediator. And whatever the vet gave Saul I assume they will use on Howard to make him appear coked out at the mediation.

BCS faster than The Wire? Are we watching the same show or did many of you binge the first few seasons?

BCS is absolutely faster than The Wire.

The only season of The Wire that moved fast for me was S4. Amazing show, but slow as **** and couldn't watch more than 2 at a time. I can watch 5 BCS episodes at a time before needing a break.

I don't know what some of you are watching. That was a fantastic hour of TV and you can see all the stories starting to come to a head.

All I know is that Omaha was referenced twice (Omaha Beach) and Nebraska referenced once with Kim's license plate, so something is coming there.

And, Omaha is where Jimmy vacuum'd to after BB

Anyone tried calling Kim's cell #? Leads to an Albuquerque land like for someone named Laura Montoya.

Either Laura is Kim's alias or Vince Gilligan has it out for a Laura Montoya

Giancarlo directing tonight's episode.
I think we're in store for a heavy dose of the Kim-Jimmy-Hamlin storyline saving Lalo's return to New Mexico for the first-half finale. I think Dr. Caldera (the vet/doctor) is going to use the vacuum cleaner disappearer and give Jimmy his journal with the coded entries, which includes the info for Best Quality Vacuum. I think we also see Lalo tracking down Kai and grabbing the axe handle in the final scene of tonight's episode. I think we also see Howard's PI being followed or having an altercation with Mike's guys that are following Jimmy. Admittedly, none of these predictions are really out there.

This is why I never watch the "next on".

Now its Monday night and I ain't even in in the mood to watch the show.

Too much stuff going on on Mondays.

By the time the show comes on, you got no mental energy to watch the show the way you want to watch it.

But thats alright though.

I'm gonna watch it anyway.

And by the way, this was the classic Gilligan setup episode.
These have always been followed by really great ones. And if you think through where this left us, the teapot is set to boil on all the outstanding story lines. Salamanca vs Fring, Jimmy and Kim vs. Howard, sandpiper, Kim's career choice (which will set her final path), and I would bet something Omaha relayed is coming as I mentioned above, they don't make those references by accident. We've been waiting all year to see Omaha again.

So Giancarlo Esposito directed this episode. Pretty cool.

I got a little lost about the guy with the cast (maybe I missed parts of an episode). Anyone willing to provide a short summary about that guy? Thanks.

He is the judge serving as the mediator in the Sandpiper case. Part of the con that Jimmy and Kim and running involves using an imposter, details not clear yet (at least to me). The fact that he has an arm in a cast and the imposter doesn't throws a monkey wrench into the works, but that doesn't faze Kim.

We don't know yet, other than them having the guy impersonating him - they freaked out because they hadn't accounted for the cast in the double.
But he will be prominent next week I'm sure.

I said last week, I learned long ago not to fret what I don't know on this show, it always comes together eventually

Kim is a great character, Seehorn is great in the role. Having said that the character is so exasperating. Why!!??? You could be so much more.

But it's like people you know in real life. Often their choices don't make sense.

I wish I had a more specific sense for how far this moment is from Breaking Bad timeframe beyond the generic timeline out there.

There's quite a bit that probably needs to happen, but its also close enough that Saul is worried about "Did Lalo send you?!"

I wonder if its possible for the timelines to actually be overlapping at this moment

Same and I came here searching for answers and feeling really dumb. Still not sure what happened there but the scene sparked quite a reaction from Saul.

That was another great episode and the whole Lalo forest season into that cabin was one of the best scenes of the season if not series imo. So tense.

Duran Duran Reflex was great.

Francesca needs to cool it with the molding.

Why does Kim even give a **** about any of this.

She could take the job at the foundation and roll out.

Howard could have done a better job with that coffee.

Was Kim driving a 4-door pontiac?

That was the point of the opening.

Kim could be a goodie two shoes straight A student but would rather be a con like her mom.

I also suspect her getting caught is what motivates her to help with troubled teens.

Seems like Kim is motivated by money. She doesn't want to be poor. But she doesn't want to overdo it.

That green Pontiac grand prix fits her.

So it would almost assuredly have to have a lengthy time jump to really overlap with Walt or jessie, but it could overlap with Hank somewhat easily.

That also means there is plenty of time for whatever happens between Jimmy and Kim to occur without feeling rushed. Whether it ends with her still being in ABQ or not, it has time.

I'm also torn on how many episodes I'd like to see in the 'future' with Jimmy in Nebraska time line. I almost feel like one episode wouldn't feel like enough in that time frame, but I guess we don't know what that story would even be about at this point.

He was going to be the judge at the Sandpiper hearing.
Saul and the film crew group were taking some sort of pictures where they had a person impersonating him.
Saul runs into him at the liquor store, and the guy has a big cast and sling on his arm, but they didn't account for that in any of the pictures they took.

So we don't specifically know what they are trying to accomplish, but it involves someone believing it is the judge in the pictures and the cast potentially ruins that plan. It also involves Hamlin taking the drug unknowingly, and looking like he is super high.

The small details we pick at and the small details they put in.

Were the ear rings Kim was wearing the ones her mom swiped? Looked like it.

You could see it coming from a mile away when Howard's wife poured that coffee into her travel cup. Then he had to wait for her to leave to clean up the mess.

Francesca trying so hard to make the office business but welcoming and then the clientele shows up.

Some more things to discuss, so Jimmy and Kim were on the internal Sandpiper call. There was an obvious 3-4 week lag minimum since last episode to get the office in shape, maybe even longer. Jimmy covets the little black book and already has a drawer full of burner phones.

I think you nailed the scheme. Saul and Kim were using the impersonator to stage what looked like the mediator being paid off by Saul, hence the $20K in cash Saul got from the bank and the camera crew talking about the photos being action shots. They would leak those photos to Hamlin's PI or Hamlin somehow. They also drug Hamlin on the day of mediation to make his eyes dilated and super jumpy so Cliff thinks Hamlin is coked up. And when Hamlin blows up on the mediator alleging he was paid off by Saul, Cliff goes off on Hamlin and they eventually decide to settle the Sandpiper case. The issue with the cast on the actual mediator is that the staged photos of Saul paying him off are clearly fake since the impersonator doesn't have the cast. Should be fun to see how Saul and Kim try to audible and fix the scheme under a huge time crunch.
