That was another great episode and the whole Lalo forest season into that cabin was one of the best scenes of the season if not series imo. So tense.
I figured Lalo was rolling over a little too fast, and I couldn't watch after I saw the razor blade because I knew it would be gruesome.

Are they trying to make Howard thinking Saul is bribing the mediator? He took out $20K or so and they had pics of him with the fake mediator. And whatever the vet gave Saul I assume they will use on Howard to make him appear coked out at the mediation.
I think you nailed the scheme. Saul and Kim were using the impersonator to stage what looked like the mediator being paid off by Saul, hence the $20K in cash Saul got from the bank and the camera crew talking about the photos being action shots. They would leak those photos to Hamlin's PI or Hamlin somehow. They also drug Hamlin on the day of mediation to make his eyes dilated and super jumpy so Cliff thinks Hamlin is coked up. And when Hamlin blows up on the mediator alleging he was paid off by Saul, Cliff goes off on Hamlin and they eventually decide to settle the Sandpiper case. The issue with the cast on the actual mediator is that the staged photos of Saul paying him off are clearly fake since the impersonator doesn't have the cast. Should be fun to see how Saul and Kim try to audible and fix the scheme under a huge time crunch.
Don't want this to get lost at the bottom of the last page.

I didn't love this scene. I know it's nitpicking but Lalo tells the German "it's about Fring". Would the Germans have known Fring's name? Yes, they saw him on several occasions but if they knew his name, that was a bad oversight on Mike's part. They never should have known.

Also, chasing an axe-wielding dude into his own barn, armed with a handgun seems like a really bad idea. It's almost like Lalo has superhuman powers of persuasion at this point. German could have hacked him to a million pieces and rightfully claimed it was self-defense if discovered.

How would Lalo know whether or not the workers knew Fring's name? You're overanalyzing.

Admittedly I'm a little bummed that this notebook we first saw in BB has such a "simple" origin, where it was just handed to him rather than made by himself.

I actually thought it was cool.

Cool to hear the vet say something along the lines of 'You know a guy who knows a guy' when we know in BB Saul says pretty much the same thing to Walt and Jessie.

Were the ear rings Kim was wearing the ones her mom swiped? Looked like it.
Yes I believe she's worn those throughout the series. Pretty sure they were the ones they show her putting on when they did the quick montage of "Kim's day" in one of the earlier seasons.

Nice to see some hidden meaning behind them, like Jimmy's pinky ring from Marco:

I saw her take it but didn't see her place it back

They are indeed the same earrings.

Quote:

The earrings are important because Kim wears the same earrings basically her whole life. You see them again in the veterinarian's office; if you notice, those are the same earrings. They meant something to her.

Oh man. For now, I think I'm going to hold off reading this as it appears that some fairly significant spoilers are implied. Not sure how long I'll be able to keep the resolve though.

From the reddit post:

Quote:

1: Some of the information is blurry and can't be read at all, even with some of the high res photos folks have sent in (Thank you!) - and some other information is completely blocked by fingers, such as the _LKUDI name...

2: This notebook appears to belong to Caldera, the vet. By viewing the names in the notebook, you may be spoiled on the reveal of a character from Breaking Bad being reintroduced. In short, Caldera has the phone number of someone we haven't seen in Better Call Saul yet.

3: The notebook also mentions a minor location that was somewhat important to the plot of Breaking Bad season 5. That location may be a minor detail in upcoming story arcs.

4: I was able to start deciphering the phone numbers based off of Nacho's phone number from earlier seasons, as well as Albuquerque's zip code. Other than Nacho's number, all of them are invalid/fake numbers that start with zero. Nacho's number leads to a voicemail, but it's from season 1 and isn't especially interesting.

5: I believe there are also symbols that indicate skills held by the individuals in the notebook, and roman numerals that may indicate either a skill level or number of times they've been hired/recommended for a job.

Lot of good stuff from Esposito in that article. (I like to think it sounds even more sophisticated by reading it in his voice.)

I'd wondered about the symbolism of Kim making the U-turn, but he completely lays it out there. I may need to go back and re-watch, there were a lot of references in this one.

Duran Duran Reflex was great.

Francesca needs to cool it with the molding.

Why does Kim even give a **** about any of this.

She could take the job at the foundation and roll out.

Howard could have done a better job with that coffee.

Was Kim driving a 4-door pontiac?

Pretty spot on and hilarious recap! Nice work!

I'm probably in the minority here but the slow burn is really starting to get on my nerves. I understand that ruining Howard will force him to settle the Sandpiper lawsuit sooner so that Saul and Kim get their payout faster. But that storyline seems so meaningless compared to the specter of a vengeful Lalo coming to whoop everyone's @$$.

Like any good drug dealer, the creators of BCS give us just enough good stuff to keep us coming back.

He's actually Hungarian. Just because he lived & worked in Germany doesn't mean he was German. Upon further review it looks like two of Werner's boys were Swiss, two were Austrian, and one was German in addition to the Hungarian.

It's not going to be meaningless when it explains why Kim is nowhere to be found in BB.

Kim is a damn good lawyer. Her courtroom scene was awesome. She just got that guy not going to jail.
Also did you all catch the rear view mirror hang down, is the same as the cab driver with Gene in Nebraska?

Mike's star gaze seemed a bit out of place and verrry cheesy to me. Like Hallmark tv cheesy. And when did Mike and Haley get into stars? Seemed really out of left field. But it did give us a Mike v. Tyrus!

Howard's wife pouring out the peace sign latte and spilling it was a total eff you right back at Howard. Do we know why their marriage is on the rocks?
