Still think the Howard ruse goes south because Jimmy goes too far while Kim wants to stop, and Kim ends up the one that pays the price.
I think that's a valid hypothesis - although it seems to me it's Kim that wants to go too far and Jimmy has been more reluctant on this Howard scam, but either way something could happen and Kim pays the price.

It could be that it works and they get Sandpiper money and Kim leaves with her cut. They were almost breaking up, she was irate at how Jimmy used her and made her look dumb, and then suddenly she proposes marriage and this Howard scam - something to think about.

Lalo is looking for some type of proof (we assume he's still looking anyway) and he knows Kim and Jimmy are together and still doesn't feel good about the interrogation at Jimmy's apartment - maybe Kim pays a price for that as well.

The writers have left a few plausible options, but the past shows them to try to stay true to the character's and the situations they have put themselves in.

Well, I think the ruminating in isolation is what changes his outlook.
Fair enough, all the money spending and crazy clients and glitz before isolation could have been how he avoided those thoughts.

If Kim is scamming Jimmy for that Sandpiper cash, that may be the most brilliant long con ever.

Yeah, I'm using Mesa Verde as my template for that theory. They ran the scam, got the offer up to evict the oldtimer, then she and Jimmy agreed it was a good time to end it… then Jimmy rolls into the settlement meeting both barrels blazing taking it all to another level

Is there any chance they amicably split, or does it have to end in some sort of betrayal/tragedy/heart break?

To be honest that would be the MOST subversive possibility since nobody expects that.

Both series have not exactly made amicable happy endings part of their stories. Jessie with 2 dead girlfriends and a year of torture was the closest.

Sure, I've definitely thought that is a possibility.

Saul/Jimmy might end it - he knows he can't extricate himself from the cartel and his best chance to protect her is to end it, even if it hurts him.

Kim might end it - she realizes Saul/Jimmy brings out her worst tendencies, and she wants to lean in to her work with the underprivileged and not be tempted to run cams and get sucked into Saul's exciting but dangerous world.

Well, I read "amicably" as in no one ends up dead or in jail or outright betrayed. It could be painful, unwanted on some level, but an ultimately "amicable" splitting of ways.

What if Howard becomes desperate defending himself and catches who he is sure is Jimmy trying to plant more evidence, and accidently kills Kim instead, then offs himself when he realizes his mistake.. And maybe it was a plan that Kim insisted on against jimmy's wishes.

that would truly be a breaking bad moment for howard. as it stands right now, i dont think that jazz-listening cornball could kill a roach

Yeah, think of most all of the endings. Walt, Mike, Chuck, Werner, Gus, Tuco, Brothers, Hank and Gomey, Air Traffic Controller guy, Nacho, on and on and on. I don't see Kim walking out unscathed unless it's vacuum time and she doesn't have enough cash for that unless Sandpiper hits and she gets half of Jimmy's.

The Heisenberg song is still my favorite cold open. Most random opening to a show that I've ever seen. I even remember thinking "Uh, do I have the right channel?", then I saw the RV and guy in the black hat...

I could definitely see something like this playing out. There's just something different about Kim this season. The stone-cold looks on her face, like she's hiding something. And doing the whole 'ROTJ' thing with her in dark clothes this season is noticeable as well. I think we're in for some twists.

Though in the end, I have to think Gene in Omaha (where Kim is from) means Kim's story isn't over.

I know this was a "filler" or transition episode but I definitely enjoyed it and laughed out loud when the patient sign fell over just as Howard was driving off.

I can't wait to see how this series ends as I can't imagine they won't stick the landing.

It would be one of those relationships where they are all over each other one minute and almost killing each other the next.

Two parts I keep thinking about:

1. Kim telling Wendy that she would represent her going forward, seemed to be a little emphasis there.

2. Hamlin even offering his therapist a job. I mean for real, wtf is that. Great little nugget into his personality, and him also offering Jimmy a job.

Has anyone out there analyzed that ****ed up dream Hamiln was dictating?

I got no real sense of where this show is going.

But Lalo gonna be Kim baby daddy.

One thing that I really enjoyed about this episode was when Saul realized that he was getting customers because of his newly found street cred from representing Lalo. It reminded me of Breaking Bad when Jesse got a bunch of street cred when everyone thought he was the one who dropped the ATM on Spooge. Just as I was making that connection... boom, there is Spooge in the Nail Salon. Fantastic writing.

Who did that look better: Wendy from Breaking Bad or Willem Dafoe in Boondock Saints?

Am I the only one that finds the cinematography annoying and distracting? It is like they are trying to find the weirdest angles and trying to be too artsy. I also feel like each episode has at least 10 minutes of just filler that could easily be edited.

I feel like the runners have so much gravitas that nobody is telling them no or to cut stuff. I'm very underwhelmed with this season. When something happens to push the story forward it is great, but that happens way too little for my taste.

It is like the whole season was shot in the spirit of the fly episode of BB.

I'm sure you aren't the only one who feels that way, but it is one of the things both this show and Breaking Bad are known for.

As far as the clip-on ties go, I read a post on Reddit claiming that it's required when working in a kitchen at a restaurant for safety reasons. Sounds made up to me, but I can see the logic in it. You wouldn't want a regular tie to get caught in a blender or something. Someone else also mentioned that Gus changed into a regular tie later, but I don't remember if that happened or not.

He did change into a regular tie when he got home. That theory makes sense. Never thought about it that way.

Glad they didn't do a full season dump. Week by week is more entertaining.
