Because it was simple and very primal. Everybody can relate.
Don't you secretly wish that some of the playground games you played as a kid had higher stakes?
- What if my snowball fights in Alaska had real consequences?
- What if our snow forts were for real?
- What if dodgeball was life or death?
Basically, there's a way to get back at the people you could never get to.
And of course there's the gambling angle.
Somebody has to win it all. What if it was you?
