There is a keyboard player with that name who also just developed some kind of music tech that helps you groove along with a backing track or something.

Maybe him.

Lots of memorabilia regardless.

Just ordered a set of these for my '60RI: https://www.throbak.com/paf-pickups-throbak-sle-101-mxv.html

I'm just not a fan of the Custombuckers that Gibson uses for these guitars. They're fine, but not really giving me what I'm looking for.

I'm also ordering an Emerson kit to replace the electronics in the guitar. Those Emerson pots are just too good not to put in my guitars.

I found a better deal for about $100 less, but still definitely expensive.

Anyone have an interest in an Ibanez AM153QA? I got it as my first guitar, but quickly moved to the acoustic and now that's all I've been playing. I've only been learning for a year but it just sits in the case. I really want to learn on an electric but tbh the acoustic just seems simpler to learn for now (taking the amp out of the equation). Was thinking $650?

I also have a Fender LT25 amp that doesn't get used, say $100? Both are practically new condition.

Anybody want in on the Dusty Hill auction?

Not much in the way of basses in that auction listing.

So the 59/09s came in today. Not sure how to wire them with the connectors I got. I expected 4 wire at least but the pickups have a red, black, and white wire. I may end up having to bite the bullet and get an Emerson kit in the end anyway.

Cool to check out the collection. I didn't go all the way through but counted at least 5 or 6 including the Fur Bass currently bid for $4k, and Crazy Cowboy Bass. Seems like they want you to wander through the hats, knives jackets and trinkets to find the instruments so they can get some bids on those with no reserve. The instruments all had reserves...

I filtered by category. Didn't bother with the other stuff.

If I end up just getting an Emerson kit, is there any value in selling the whole Gibson Quick Connect setup with the pickups?
Lathspell

You can try. No one who would do their own pickup work woupd choose to use the PCB. The pickups you may be able to sell to someone looking for a deal.

If you ever think you may sell the guitar, you may want to swap them out again.
Quincey P. Morris

That's a good point. Would probably make more sense to just hold on to it.

I may end up just doing work on two guitars. The Epi LP has an Emerson Kit and Pearly Gates pups. Might pull the kit out of that, put it in the Gibby with the 59/09s, and move the PCB to the Epi and the Pearly Gates.

I went ahead and ordered an Emerson kit instead of dealing with the PCB in the Les Paul. I guess I need to grab a switch and some wire too now.
Lathspell

If it's a Gibson, you shouldn't have to replace the switch. It should be a Switchcraft.

I'd have to cut off the quick connect though. Nothing is soldered.

Just spent the last several hours replacing the Custombuckers in my LP with the Throbaks and a new Emerson kit. The pots in there were getting scratchy, so I decided to go ahead and install the Emerson kit because it is always a good idea.

These Throbaks definitely have more clarity than the Custombuckers. I'm loving this neck pickup because it's finally not "woofy", which I hate from a guitar neck pickup. I want it to be articular and clear when I start rolling off volume.

Was it worth the money? I think so, but others may disagree. This is my Custom Shop '60 Reissue, so I want it to sound exactly how I expect a classic LP to sound, and this definitely does. I'll be hooking it up to the Friedman tomorrow, so I can try that "Marshall" thing.

If you're happy with them and good with the price, nothing else matters.

So, I ran by Fuller's yesterday to buy some strings and ended up playing some of those Custom Shop strats. They have a newer one Journeyman Relic in white that was very nice.

Got me really wanting a Custom Shop Strat. So I'm posting my Dave's Guitar Shop thin skin and American Original 60's Strats on Reverb, and will also try to sell my 2011 65th anniversary Tele on reverb as well. I don't need 2 strats, and really want one nice Strat. Also, that Tele was one I bought to put a bigsby on, before realizing it wasn't the same specs as a vintage tele, which threw that all out the window. I never play it, so might as well sell it.

For me and guitars, if I haven't picked a guitar in over 2 months, I should probably sell it and get something I will play.

While browsing Reverb, found a good deal on a '60 CS Strat in 3-tone sunburst with a journeyman relic. They had it listed at $2,999 but accepted my offer of $2,750. I'm thinking I can get around $3,600 for both of my strats, and trying to get $800-$1,000 for my tele.

Obviously, every guitar is unique and there is always risk in buying guitars online. If this Strat I just bought doesn't quite meet my expectations, I can always just look for another and flip this one. Though I really liked the Strat at Fuller's, I just can't get myself to fork out the cash for a brand new Custom Shop guitar. I could get it for $4,350 at the highest, though may be able to talk down a little. That's just so much money for a Strat, though it felt/played great, and had a beautiful dark rosewood fretboard. If anyone is running by Fuller's go check it out: https://reverb.com/item/77594213-fender-custom-shop-limited-edition-60-stratocaster-journeyman-relic-aged-olympic-white

You could also post on TexAgs Classifieds and maybe find a buyer there and save some Reverb and shipping fees.

Maybe.

Meh, I don't mind paying the fees for the convenience and keeping a third party involved for any possible disputes. I can also see the selling history of the other party, which I always take into consideration.

Can you post your reverb ads? I'm a tirekicker right now, but love to see your Tele. If I can get The Rib up to speed on how incomplete my meager collection is without one, the Tele will be the next for me...

What's the best wire to buy for switches? I'm going to get a Switchcraft switch, but not sure if there's any real difference in terms of wire. I've generally been a copper is copper kind of guy, but was curious if there's other schools of thought.
Quincey P. Morris

Well that's annoying. Neck pickup wire isn't anywhere close to long enough.

So, after going down rabbit holes of YouTube vids and forums, I decided I wanted to try a tube drive pedal. I specifically had seen a lot of videos of the Vahlbruch Kaluna overdrive pedal and really loved the idea of it. I love my Tone King imperial so much, but wanted to be able to kick my guitars into that higher gain realm with more tightness, but still get the warmth of my Imperial amp.

I found one for a good price on Reverb, received it today, and have been playing it for the last 1.5 hours. Damn... this thing is awesome. The Tone King imperial's lead channel doesn't have a three band EQ, so I love that I can shape my EQ with this and push the front of the amp with basically another pre-amp.

I'm so impressed with the tone i'm getting with this thing through my amp, I don't know why I would use any of my other drives, honestly. Here's Pete Thorn's video that basically convinced me I need to give this thing a try:

I shouldn't have to pull the pickups out of the rings for anything. I'll probably have to take the pickups back off, but that takes two minutes.
