One of those double neck guitars looks like a B.C. Rich Stealth. One of their lesser-seen models but a really futuristic look. I have never seen one in double neck.

just came to this thread to vent and *****. Seriously pissed right now. Bought a Fender Ultra V bass a few years ago and its been great. I play in various country band and usually gig a couple times a month. Well this past week I pulled it out to run over some songs for a gig this weekend and noticed the action was high and not as low as it normally is. I got out my wrench and figured I'd tighten the truss rod and bring it down some. Well low and behold the thing wouldn't budge. So I backed it off some to loosen it with the intention of tightening it back up. It managed to turn counterclockwise, but then I ran into the problem of not being able to turn it at all to the right no matter how hard I tried. The action became stupid high after doing this.......fast forward to yesterday I take it in to one of the best guitar shops in Houston and immediately the notice the neck is extremely bowed and mention the truss rod is screwed and even stripped out some from me turning on it basically one time. So now my best/most affordable option is to buy a new neck which by the grace of god I think I found the only matching one available on the internet and ordered it immediately yesterday.

Not sure if the neck was defected, not properly installed when I got it or what, but I am pissed of having to deal with this and spend the money on a 3 year old bass that is considered top of the line.

Ha I remember doing that back in 2015. I went to a Granger Smith VIP meet and greet and showed up with my 12 String Acoustic....I was 24 and looking sharp that evening. Some of the girls smiled at me and came up to me.....I'm too honest and they became less interested after I told them I wanted his sig on the guitar. He signed it in his tour bus, talked about Aggie Football for a little bit. I was able to put it back in my car before the concert started.

He actually stop touring and became a minister after his son died from drowning. Hope he is in a better place.

Wow. I didn't recall that story about his son drowning and him getting out of the business and into ministry.

Did you try loosening the truss rod before you tightened it? I've always heard to do it that way but don't have any real experience with truss rods yet.

If that neck doesn't work for whatever reason, I'd checkout Warmoth. Most of their business is replacement bodies and necks for Fender. At that point you can choose neck woods and frets.

I have a Michael Kelly 53OP (tele-style), and I think I want to swap out the stock Rockfield pickups. Looking at Fender Tex-Mex. Anybody have any experience with those in a Telecaster?

yeah I did. Thats what I was trying to explain. I was able to loosen it, but couldn't turn it at all after doing that clockwise to get it back to even where it was originally. I am thinking when the bass was made originally the truss rode was so tight to begin with that over a few years it bowed the neck so much it couldn't even be tightened?

One thing for sure is the new fenders use that stupid ball style end on it where it goes in at an angle. I freaking hate that. give me the normal old school allen wrench type.

yeah I briefly looked at there site, but they didn't have any in stock. Found one on stratopshere ebay store that is an exact match so hopefully it works out. I am wanting to keep it as close to stock as possible since I am comfortable with the neck and knows how it plays. If for some reason the neck I ordered doesn't work out Warmoth will be next in line to get something figured out.

Yeah, I looked real quick as well a few minutes ago and noticed they didn't have any in stock necks. Seems like they don't keep near as much in stock as they used to. I'd bet they had stuff that just hung around taking up space forever and stopped doing that.

There are several eBay/reverb sellers that just buy guitars and part them out so that might be an option to look into as well.

Kids are getting tad older and trying to go to small shows again.

I live in Round Rock. Any venues in N. Austin that have good bands frequent? 80s bands/country/cover bands/ originals....I have a wide taste in music.

I have been to come and take it and Round Rock Tavern. That level of venue or even smaller is something I'm digging right now.

Thanks!

As Maroon mentioned I'm not in Austin, but do play in the area some. In regards to your question I'd take a look at Coupland Dancehall. Smaller venue, good food, good country acts coming through from time to time. Decently close to RR and gets you away from the city some.

That is a strange situation to run into. I didn't realize Fender doesn't warranty for the lifetime of the instrument on manufacturer defects, which I would argue this is. Even still, did you try calling Fender?

I've always had great customer support with both Fender and Gibson, and you never know what they would be willing to do if you call and talk to someone.

Looking at Gibson, they warranty for the lifetime of the guitar, but only for the original purchaser. Fender's looks to be a 2 Year warranty for the original purchaser.

This is from that same estate sale. To say the collection is all over the place is an understatement. I would not have guessed a framed Madonna thong would be among the items.

didn't even think to call fender. My patience is short and need it fixed ASAP. With it being 3+ years since it was bought my case would be weak anyways.

I wouldn't call them with a litigious mindset. You play it just asking for help for a guitar you love that seemed to have a defect. Obviously, by the letter of their warranty, they don't have to help you. That aside, sometimes they will work with you. Another option would have been the store you bought the guitar from. Talk to them about the issue and they may have helped you get a replacement neck at a discount or just gone to Fender on your behalf to help you out.

My experience with guitar and guitar parts manufacturers has always been fantastic. This has been the same with my experience in dealing with the various merchants, no matter the size. Everyone you talk to seems to also be a musician and understands what you are going through.

Again, no guarantee that would have worked, but definitely worth a try.

thats what I did. Even they knew I was a bit screwed since fender themselves doesn't even carry the neck to purchase as a replacement.

I wouldn't be concerned. I'm afraid user error on my part also played a role. Being over an hour plus from houston forced me to try and work on it myself, when higndsight 2020 I should've left the damn thing alone and brought it in at a later date. I lack patience.

Did you buy it used or new? If new, that's just so strange and has to be a manufacturer issue. I would have called Fender and told them that of course I didn't know the truss rod was incorrectly installed because I haven't needed to make an adjustment in 3 years.

How far did you turn the truss rod when you loosened it?

Also, did you change to a higher gauge of string?

maybe 1/4 of a turn when loosing. it was very little. String gauge has remained consistent over the years.

That's weird.

I'd find a good repair shop and have them look at it. And I don't mean just the guitar tech at the place from which it was purchased.

yes it sucks, but the luthier and shop I went to is very well respected with knowledgeable folks with multiple dudes who checked it out. It sucks but is what it is at this point.

That's so bizarre looking. Its like they have it arranged for her to smell the thong! Of course, as a Spinal Tap fan, I wish they would have swapped the positions of the thong and the gloves!

Ordered some PRS 59/09s to put in the Les Paul. Don't want to drop money on an Emerson kit at the same time so I ordered some connectors to solder onto the leads so I can just plug it into the Gibson circuit board. We'll see how that goes.

I assume this was played on a regular basis? Where was it kept that you pulled it from originally. Did you see any other issues like fret sprout or whatnot. Just making sure it was impacted by crazy high or low humidity and a new neck will eventually meet the same fate.

Eww... i hate the circuit board. Just give yourself enough wire to eventually snip those connectors off and point to point solder to an Emerson kit.

The connectors have plenty of wire. I'll probably cut those short rather than doing anything to the pickups.

Facebook shows that the auction or estate sale with all those odd and signed guitars posted earlier is happening this week.

Richmond? Didn't Frank Beard live in Richmond for a long time? Maybe it's his property?

I haven't looked to see if Fort Bend County CAD is free to search by the public to see who owns this place.

I don't really have any interest in signed memorabilia or double-necked guitars but if I lived close by I'd be all over that estate sale. I bet there are some really cool axes in that collection.
